Great food, very flavourful & well worth the price. The ambiance is also great. Staff is very friendly.

Je voulais un restaurant halal et j'ai trouvé! Viande très bonne mais les prix sont tellement élevé. Avec 3 enfants c'est impossible de manger à -de 500$ minimum.

Remote from busy 5th Avenue, we were very pleased to find this steakhouse. Welcome was warm, service was excellent and food up to our expectation. We opted for the 212 Premium Selection that includes an exclusive piece of Kobe beef. Portions were adequate with only regret that the piece of Kobe piece went too fast.

Not at all impressed unfortunately. Staff brought both appetizer and side dishes that were not correct. When it was time to pay, it took at least 20 min for waiter to bring check.

The selection of halal steak was the first perk. But after being seating and sipping my mocktail I was floored. The chargrilled oysters were amazing. The steak sauces were delicious and to add the cherry on top, the Creme Brûlée was chef's kiss. A 10/10 for sure. I can't wait to visit again. Thanks for making my 40th bday dinner 1 for the books.

We ate dinner early, 6pm so noise level was moderate until dessert when it increased considerably. Apps and sides were very good and the steaks flavorful, tender and juicy as expected (I had the Wagyu ribeye, my friends had the NY strip), although I found prices to be high, especially considering no sides were included with the steak order. Service was attentive and timely. Ambience was nothing special. Overall a very good dining experience.

I have been going to 212 for years and it never misses yourself a favor and go there and have some amazing food in an awesome environment. The staff is just as exceptional as the food is.

The quality of the meat has gone down significantly over the last few years. Makes me wonder if that is why they're doing the 50% off any steak promotion. Service is worse too. Inexperienced waiters. I asked for a Gin Gibson at the bar and he brought a totally different drink then shrugged his shoulders and said "I dunno, this is what the bartender put out." 212 Steakhouse is no longer in the same league as other NYC heavyweights. The only reason to go here is to try the Kobe beef.

I want to write something nice here about this steakhouse, given the fact that it is halal, which is a rarity in the city, but unfortunately there is nothing very positive to write about the food. While the atmosphere was pleasant, and I must say the service was very good, the steaks were the equivalent of chewing into a rubber tire. Because no matter how much you chewed, you simply could not get the meat to separate in your mouth! I don't know whether the steak was done so badly almost on purpose, or this is how the restaurant functions, which makes me wonder how it is still around. When I checked with my wife, she had exactly the same scenario. Then we looked around and found that the table behind us had left many portions of the steak on the plate. There must be something we are missing as the restaurant could not be around for so long serving something like this, but it is what it is, unfortunately.

I’m very disappointed with my experience at this steakhouse. For the price, I expected better. I had to ask for salt, which is unusual for a steakhouse, and even the mac and cheese lacked seasoning. The steak was unevenly cooked on top of needing salt and the calamari was hard tasted like it was refried. The only reason I gave two stars was for the crème brûlée only thing that tasted good.Given the quality and cost, I won’t be returning."

**Avoid 212 Steakhouse at All Costs—Terrible Service, Overpriced, and Not Worth Your Time**

We visited 212 Steakhouse on Saturday, August 31st, hoping to take advantage of their 50% off steak promotion. The experience was nothing short of a disaster from start to finish.

First, we called ahead to make a reservation, but the person on the phone was incredibly rude and dismissive, claiming they were fully booked and insisting we book online. When we checked online, there were plenty of available tables, which was absurd. We made a reservation for 5 PM and arrived on time, only to find the restaurant nearly empty with just two occupied tables. Clearly, they weren’t busy or booked as they claimed.

We were seated at a slanted table and asked if we could move, but the waiter refused, saying those tables were reserved for 5 PM. Interestingly, those “reserved” tables remained empty throughout our meal. After being seated, our waiter disappeared for nearly 20 minutes, and we had to flag down a different waiter just to place our order around 5:22 PM. The service was painfully slow, with another 15 minutes passing before we received bread and butter, and an additional 20 minutes before our food arrived, despite the restaurant being almost empty.

When the food finally arrived, it was a complete disappointment. We ordered the Halal T-bone steak, truffle mash, sautéed mushrooms, and lobster mac and cheese. Everything was cold, and the steak was overcooked, chewy, and well-done, despite us specifically requesting it medium. The food was subpar, and the service was trash. Not once did our waiter check in on us after we were served. When we finally got his attention to ask for the check, we mentioned that the food was terrible. His response? “You should have brought it to our attention.” The irony is, if he had actually done his job and checked on us during the meal, we would have.

To add to this awful experience, when the check came, they charged us full price for the steak, despite the promotion. It took another waiter to correct this “mistake,” which felt like an attempt to scam us, hoping we wouldn’t notice.

The entire experience was a waste of $150 for dinner for two. The food was terrible, the service was the worst we’ve experienced in a so-called upscale restaurant, and the atmosphere was anything but welcoming. It’s no wonder they’re running promotions. It’s probably the only way they can get people in the door with such poor service and food quality.

To all the Muslim food bloggers who have recommended this place: please, keep your reviews honest. We understand you get paid to do reviews, but at least keep it truthful. People trust your opinions, and traveling to a place based on your reviews only to have a horrible experience is incredibly disappointing.

We will never return to 212 Steakhouse. Save your money, time, and energy. This place is not worth it.
