Even with a reservation, I had to wait a while for my table. The restaurant was very busy, perhaps people stopping in to give their goodbyes to a local favorite spot which was scheduled to close next week. I read today that that is not happenning. Good for them. My major complaint was the dog that was sitting with the person next to me. It was not a service dog and it just annoys me that the dog was allowed to sit on the bench at tabletop height. Also, I have an allergy to dogs, but I think mentioning it would have fallen on deaf ears.

Sadly, we heard 44 & X is permanently closing next week. So it was beautiful to enjoy one last fabulous dining experience.

Fine service, but the menu could definitely use a refresh. Additionally, my husband's hamachi smelled “fishy,” and my turkey mushroom meatloaf was more like a smooth pate. The bacon “wrapping” had a plastic texture.

I've been dining at this restaurant for over 20 years. The food is among the best I've had at a moderately priced restaurant. The chef crafted a very diverse menu with so many great choices! There's never an issue finding something appetizing to eat. Furthermore, the food is always so flavorful! The service from our waiter, Mark, was impeccable thereby adding to the wonderful experience! Overall, 44 & X provides an excellent culinary experience for a reasonable price. I hope to be able to come back here for another 20 years! Please support this exemplary culinary establishment!

Met some friends that came in from London on a Sunday for a brunch. Staff and food were good. Noise level very high inside. Nice place on 44th and 10th.

The food and vibe are always wonderful. Our server, Marc is simply the best! Maybe add a lower priced wine choice, or some bar offer during brunch to stay competitive with the neighborhood.

The restaurant had a beautiful outdoor setting, perfect for a balmy New York summer evening. Our waiter was excellent—attentive, friendly, and helpful. The food was outstanding: I enjoyed a perfectly cooked salmon along with starters of goat’s cheese and a Caesar salad. The wine was also excellent. To finish, we shared a chocolate soufflé and a peanut butter–flavoured dessert, both of which were exceptional. Overall, the food was fresh, delicious, and faultless. A truly wonderful dining experience. The only negative was the bread at the start which was somewhat stale. Definitely recommend!!
