We randomly decided to stop here for dinner in Chinatown. The food was great and portions are huge. Servers were doing a great job dealing with the continuous line of people at the door while also making sure that everyone inside was taken care of.
Definitely worth stopping here to try Chinese food in New York.

Best fried rice I’ve ever had on the east coast. I’ve lived in NYC for 15 years from SF, haven’t found a good Chinese food place since being here. I look forward to coming back and trying other items on menu. I had the Shanghai fried rice. Yum definitely recommend.

Generous portions of delicious and authentic Chinese food. Service was also fast and friendly. Ringing up the steamed rice separately @ $1.75 per bowl is a way to raise prices, and credit card transactions also have a 3.5% fee built in.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable meal in Chinatown, 456 Shanghai on Mott Street is the place to go! We visited with our family of five, and it was hands down one of the best dining experiences we’ve had. The steamed soup dumplings—both the shrimp and pork and the pork—were the best we’ve ever had, easily the top dumplings on Mott Street. The fried soup dumplings were also great, but the steamed ones really stole the show.
The General Tso’s chicken was phenomenal—crispy, flavorful, and not overly sweet, the best we’ve ever tasted. We also tried the orange chicken and the Shanghai rice cakes, both of which were delicious. If you’re in Chinatown, don’t miss out on the best dumplings in town. The food, service, and atmosphere at 456 Shanghai make it a must-visit!

Fair prices, good food but I wouldn't go back. We ordered 2 plates of dumplings, 1 Cantonese rice, 1 noodles and some aubergines. To drink 3 beers and 2 cokes. Spent with card $114.80, in cash it was cheaper.
