I wish I knew some of the BEAUTIFUL people that have also been treated poorly in this world.Thankyou for having the COURAGE to speak up against adversity.it’s INTIMIDATiNG & SCARY to be discriminated against.I wish there was a GROUP within NYC where everybody put in that predicament could come together and that Lawyers and Police Officers would come to the group and offer their resources.it’s very brave to be outspoken when your Human Rights are violated.I am spending a Fair amount of M$ney(I am a SOLVENT person when it comes to Healthfood stores,NOT that people who spend $2 should be treated with any Less DiGNiTY)in stores that treat me with Equality and Dignity and I am so HAPPY those businesses get M$ney from me-They deserve that M$ney more than anything. All the BEST and BLESSINGS to this business-I am not vengefuL or HATEFUL….iT is obviously a FORM OF DiSCRiMiNATiON to treat another human being in a spiteful way because of the clothing they CHOOSE to wear,(,and that choice of wearing what one chooses to wear is also called FREEDOM).-and nobody should be FORGiNG
NEGATiVE affiliations with ANYBODY’S style of dressing.I am so ThankFul to the BEAUTIFUL young woman who helped me when I was in your store.-Everybody was not negative and Judgemental.I really remember that BEAUTIFUL young woman(the way she treated me really was AMAZING and PHENOMENAL)-she is BEAUTIFUL inside and out.
Absolutely outstanding. The best selection for organic/natural products around. Unrivaled.
Great store with lots of organic options! Always have deals. All the employees go above and beyond! Super cute cat living there :)
A Matter of Health changed the way I eat (healthier) because it has an amazing selection of products that Whole Foods doesn’t, and that is even healthier than what you’ll find at Whole Foods! With ingredients that are better for you.
I’m very grateful to the store for carrying such amazing foods and products, and even though I moved further away, I still make the trek every week to stock up on the things from a Matter of Health that I cannot live without! :D
Huge variety of natural and healthy foods. I travel in to buy a weeks with of vegetarian chicken salad
... yum
Fresh produce, big selection, vitamins, very nice staff!
Wide selection of food both prepared or not. Also there is a large vitamin section with a few workers there to answer questions.
Absolutely appalled. I was asked to show paperwork for my service dog — which is ILLEGAL in New York State. Businesses are not allowed to demand documentation for service animals, and doing so is discriminatory under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The staff clearly had no training on disability rights or state law. It was embarrassing, offensive, and completely out of line. I expect better from a place serving the public. If you care about accessibility or basic human decency, I suggest shopping elsewhere.
My go to shop for organic snacks when I’m in the area (which is several times a week). They have great prices overall, and a good rotation of sales. Their organic produce is also well priced and a good selection as well. Chocolate selection and pantry (dish soaps, parchment paper etc. ) are great. A store that cares about health for real!!
Haven’t had any issues with service , but I don’t expect much. Security guard at the door is kind.
Very tasty farm vegetables! I always buy celery here for my morning juice!

Wonderful health food store witha huge range of products. Reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
This as a well stocked old school health food store. Most importantly their produce is the best I’ve found in NYC.
Great Natural Food grocery store. Vegan, gluten free, vegatarian, organic
Always pleased with the shopping and service. Thank you!
Superb mom-n-pop health food store w knowledgeable supplement and nutrition staff. Kind and engaged cashiers overall, give or take a few oddball interactions as can be expected over the seven years I’ve been going here. This place is better than Whole Foods in terms of health. Prices are fair, sometimes cheaper or more expensive than Whole Foods, it varies. There’s a clearance section for skincare, which can yield some good finds for essential oil and product experimentation.
Matthew, somewhat of a host for the supplement-skincare room In the back, has a Masters in nutrition and is the go-to–person—from what I’ve seen from harried customers demanding his attention—for discussing solutions for health issues.
The prices are very fair, sometimes unbelievably cheap. E.g. that purified aloe that never goes bad, which I use for skincare. And their great selection of filling health bars and snacks to eat when you want an inexpensive portable meal.
Their takeaway coffee is amazing for I think only $2.75 and it’s organic! Sometimes they run out of stevia but they’ll refill it if you request. Agreeable and diligent staff.
I haven’t tried much of their produce yet, but you can get a good range of fresh produce that looks amazing, and they carry locally made baked goods, which I appreciate from an ethical standpoint.
I only wish they had more locations. They did have one on First and and 77th but I didn’t care for it too much, and besides, they closed. So this one is the only one I know of. Thank goodness they made it through COVID. Enjoy this neighborhood gem!
