I've been to ABC Cocina many times, it's my go-to place for great atmosphere and good food. Last week I went there with friends for a small birthday celebration and the experience was disappointing. The food was not as good as before (the grilled octopus is far behind the octopus you'd get at La Boqueria), the shrimp bland, like the chef was trying too hard to come up with innovative combinations but fell short. Some dishes I'd give 4 *, some 3; the churros were excellent. The background music is pretty loud so the noise level is high; we couldn't really have a conversation across the table, just short sentences. I'd suggest turning down the music and not changing the menu so frequently but sticking to the best dishes they have.
I have been many times to this place and I can say the arroz con pollo y always a must although most of their tapas are pretty good and a bit small. They usually have great tres leches cake as well
This is chef comment! BEST BEST BEST mexican restaurant.Should try..
Beautiful space, friendly host and amazing service! The food was absolutely delicious I got the tomato & salad it was so refreshing and then enjoyed the best pork tacos and had a rose water lemonade! The flan is also a must! I had the best time, they don’t rush us either !
Came here for a work dinner and was very impressed and surprised. The interior is gorgeous with dimly lit with antique/modern vibes, super fancy chandeliers, little table lamps and different textures in the walls. We shared a bunch of plates together because we were a big group of like 8 people.
Guac and chips: crunchy and super fresh, small portion though
Sashimi: nice light starter, fresh, great texture and taste mixture
Okra and pepper dish: spicier than expected but tons of flavor
Veggie ceviche: crunchy veggies, fresh and ripe tomatoes, small avocado cubes, flavorful
Beef Tacos: rich, satisfying, as expected
Mushroom and cheese: very creamy and well balanced textures from the mushroom and cheese
Rhubarb cake with pistachios: light, yummy, easy to share, comes with vanilla icecream
Flan: super rich, tasted almost like cheesecake
Mint choco ice cream: not your regular mint chip, way better, feels more “real”
I didn’t love my mocktail because it wasn’t sweet as expected but my waitress brought syrup on the side and made sure I liked it!! super attentive and accommodating.
Definitely make a reservation! This is the place you can take a date, your parents, coworkers, friends, or alone even!! I would come back.
The neighborhood is cute. The vibe is chill. The staff is friendly. Love the chaotic but thoughtful interior. It’s perfectly curated. I like the rustic roof beams and the fancy chandeliers. But more importantly, the food! Loved every bite. The empanadas were so interesting. The tacos were tasty. The best bite though? The churros. I know lame, boring, you can get churros anywhere. But the salt level on these! So perfect. I loved them. I would definitely come back here and recommend to others.
Enjoyed the food and the staff is pleasant. Like many NY places, it does get louder as the evening hours start. Some of the tables are uncomfortably close together and it's hard to order a number of small plates to share at a 2 top table. That said, there is something for almost everyone on the menu!
Loved the tacos and sea bass. It was a little expensive but I definitely enjoyed my meal. I wouldn't recommend the fritters. Noise is kind of high level, but a beautiful ambiance.
Excellent food. Sweet pea guacamole, maitake mushroom and areoz con pollo were highlights. Amazing service from Vinny, if you have him waiting on you, don't bother with the menu, just listen to his recommendations!
Spring pea guacamole, mistake mushrooms and arroz con pollo were winners. Amazing service from Vinny. Will return!

Best tapas I've ever had -- hands-down. If you go and get nothing but the arroz con pollo (which they're famous for), then you'll have done yourself a treat. It was succulent and moist without being too wet, and the flavor was spectacular. I'd also recommend the guacamole made with peas and the ginger margarita. It was an exquisite night out and a wonderful meal. I can't wait to try ABC Kitchen and ABC V.
Delicious food. Everything was amazing but the best thing was the cauliflower tacos and the vegan Frangipane dessert - Who would have thought?! And I'm not even vegetarian
Love all of the ABC restaurants but Cocina might be a new favorite. Service is warm and friendly for such a cool, chic spot, and the food is excellent - interesting, well-made and delicious!
We were a group of 8 people and the food came out in waves. One person received her meal while the rest waited 20 minutes. Someone asked for bacon on the side, received the bacon after we all ate. Another, asked for avocado toast, she received the toast, then the avocado towards the end of the meal. We weren't able to eat as a group - it was so strange! Also, the food was nothing great - really disappointing! While we were settling the bill, the wait staff started removing our placemats and taking our personal belongings off them. We asked if they needed the table for another group, they said they didn't. Would never go there again. Our personal waiter was great, besides that, it was an awful experience. Over priced, not so good food.
The food is superb. We ordered 10 things and everything was good to superb. Amazing. The noise level is high (but I am showing my age a bit). Very lively and a lot of people will love it.
