This place almost never seems busy but we finally tried it and WOW it was fantastic! I particularly loved the Akami Sashimi Rolls they offer (in both 5 and 10-piece varieties) which are special rolls without any rice. I’d never seen anything like that before and it was an awesome and delicious way to have a sushi roll without all of the carbs of the rice.Will 100% go back!

I don't typically write reviews but the service was so reprehensible that i feel compelled to write a review. My daughter and I waited for 30 minutes (there was only one other table of two in the entire place) while the waitress ignored us. They were very busy with take out orders, and they had every opportunity to tell us that they could not take our order. But instead they let us sit there for 30 minutes before telling us they wouldn't be able to serve us and recommended us to eat elsewhere. Absolutely horrible behavior for any business. If they had told us when we arrived that they were too busy, that would've been fine. But to let us sit for 30 minutes. If I hadn't asked, we would've sat there for hours as they continued to ignoring us and waste our time. Rude waitress who was like 'oh well'.

Bad sushi (wasn't fresh, not spoiled but not good. Didn't use sushi rice either) , instant ramen that they sell for $15, it was just horrible. Wish there was a zero stars.

I really enjoy their lunch rolls, they are fresh and delicious and they have a great variety to choose from for the lunch menu. I really enjoyed their shumai and everything else I tried. The dressing on the salad is fresh, zesty and tasty. They always get my order right which I appreciate a lot because this does not often happen and so I really enjoy their delicious food. I want to try some other combinations so I can try more variety from the menu. The value is pretty great as well for the location. Everyone is very friendly and helpful and I really enjoy ordering the food knowing that it will be fresh and delicious. I’ll keep going there and would recommend that place.

I live close to this restaurant. I highly recommend going there and having the food. When you order food it doesn’t look and taste the same as it would when freshly prepared and served. Excellent lunch specials. Honestly the best japanese lunch specials in Manhattan.

I ordered the shrimp bento box. The shrimp looked like it was seasoned but really needed more flavor. I really wanted to add salt. Same for the tempura. Sushi was pretty good as was the salad and soup. Portions were good. I expected more. Oh well. Service was great though.

Placed an order for pick up and the lady on the phone was rude and lacked customer service. I ordered 2 bento box and asked if could switch the tempura to extra California rolls or extra Shumai instead . The lady rudely said no. I said I would pay extra because I rather pay for something I'm going to eat instead of paying for something I'm not going to eat . I used to be a regular here , but I'm definitely not ordering anymore. I will find another Japanese restaurant that is more friendly and accommodating.

Every time I order from Akami, I'm delighted with how good the food is. I often order the Bento Box ... lots of food for not much money. The beef negimaki is delicious! Their miso soup is one of the best i've tasted, and all the food is fresh and very nicely presented for take-out food. The white rice was perfect. The delivery always comes sooner than they say it will.

I'd recommend this place. I like the food and the price is reasonable. For a take out, the food is ready in 10-15 minutes.

I don’t write reviews often, but this place made me so sick. I got the lunch special from here. It tasted okay, but I couldn’t finish it - it was too chewy and salty. Within a few hours I was so violently ill I couldn’t keep water down. I was sick all night and it took over 12 hours for me to be able to drink water again. It’s been almost 24 hours and I still haven’t graduated to food. I do not remember ever being this sick from food before - seriously concerned about the health and safety of the kitchen here. I didn’t even get anything raw.

Don't eat here!! I got seriously sick from their chicken teriyaki lunch special. I don't know what gave me the food poisoning - the rice, chicken, shumai, or California roll but I was sick within a few hours of eating and couldn't even keep water down. I was ill all night and couldn't drink water for over 12 hours - I've been sick from food before but this was really bad. I contemplated going to the ER. Go to one of the thousands of other sushi restaurants in Manhattan that won't make you feel like this. The food isn't even good!
