The best croissants in NYC and the baguettes are to-die-for. When in Chelsea around noon, we always buy the classic ham sandwich on fresh baguette.
Pastries are not fresh, and it’s too expensive for what it is
I don’t know what a $15 bread should taste like, which is why I didn’t get their $15 bread, or the 22$ one. but I do know that a 6$ croissant should be pretty darn fresh and flaky, not what they served for this price this morning… 🙃
Quality is above similar options in Chelsea market, pricing is upsetting.
Visited about a year ago. Absolutely LOVED it. Will definitely go back.
I got a chocolate croissant and it was really good! Perfect crispiness on outside
Excellent ham & cheese baguette, best monkey bread!!
An Absolute Delight!
Alfbakery is the place to go for fresh, high-quality baked goods. Their bread and pastries are nothing short of perfection, with each bite offering the ideal balance of taste and texture. The aroma of freshly baked goods fills the air, making it impossible to resist. With exceptional quality, attention to detail, and friendly service, it has become my go-to for baked treats. Highly recommend!
Laminated baguette is a peak bread experience
Very disappointing - came here having read the positive reviews, but unfortunately the pastries and service didn’t live up to expectations. Almond croissant was like rock and very overdone. Service very slow and staff not keen to help when we politely raised that items received were not what we originally ordered. Appreciate we went on a busy Saturday morning and staff clearly handling a lot of orders/customers, but for the price point, would have hoped for a lot better. Positives were that the coffee was very good, and small seating area pleasant.
after much elbowing through the saturday afternoon chelsea market crowds, i managed to secure 1 of 3 remaining laminated baguettes to my immense delight and relief. and it was well worth the effort. excited to try other items on their menu once i’m ready to brave the crowds again.

The potato tart was amazing, as were a few of the sweet pastries. You can see the bakers working in the kitchen so the atmosphere is more get and go. Glad to stumble upon this place in the lower level of Chelsea Market!
Delicious potato danish! Nice panini, too.
I heard good things about Alf bakery so went over on my last trip to NY and the Chocolate Almond Croissant has been living rent-free in my head ever since. Not to mention that have a croissant with mashed oreos baked into it...phenomenal. I also grabbed a pull-apart baguette to snack on and was surprised that it wasn't as fresh as I would have thought given the time of day (was there about 9:30am on a Sunday). I plan to check them out again and try some of the other things I missed out on the first time.
We are vegan and shop at Whole Foods for a handful of vegan items not carried anywhere else. The prices are outrageous.
Need to stop assuming that people are there to walk out with something that wasn't paid for "Because"
