After 11 days of American cuisine, both fast food and luxury restaurants, my boyfriend and I, despite being firm in our belief that we did not want to test Italian food abroad, fell into temptation at the idea of the ancient vintner. We entered the restaurant at 7.50pm happy to have found it open because we had read that it closed at 8pm. We had no intention of eating on site also because the restaurant is very small, so we just had to read the menu and choose what to order. The beginning of a very unpleasant situation. We enter and are greeted by two girls at the counter, customers like us but friends of the waiter who shout at us "we told you to close but..."; even my boyfriend replies in Italian "we'll take everything away anyway" smiling to make it all ironic. The waiter replies: "I don't speak Italian, just bye bye"; in English we explain that we wanted to read the menu but he replies that he would give us a maximum of one minute while we were looking for the menu and started counting down with us there. We managed to order quickly and at random because we didn't have time to read and while he was preparing the focaccias and in the meantime his colleague was discussing (in Italian) about where to go to smoke the two girls in the entrance muttered in English at us.The funny thing is that there were other customers eating so the waiters were simply annoyed that they couldn't go and smoke with the girls straight away. I am writing this detailed review because we wanted to take more things but we were not allowed to and for how much we spend at least I expect education and respect towards the customer. Nothing to say about the quality of the food, but the service is terrible and considering that for an Italian it should be a treat, it was a slap in the face.I attach the photo of the receipt as a verification of the times: it is signed at 8.04pm so unless they are Guinness world record stuffing champions they were on working hours.

This place consistently has a very long line, however the food is average. The price doesn’t align to the taste of the food. It definitely does not feel like you are in Italy biting into the

I went to Rome in October 2023 and I wasn't able to eat the famous Italian panino, as the queue was huge and I didn't have much time. But I took advantage and when I was in NYC 2024 I went to the Times Square store and ate The Odd Couple, wonderful!!!!

This restaurant came highly recommended and it lived up to the hype. High-quality, delicious sandwiches bigger than your face and service/friendliness to match. Shout out to Mateo (direct from Italy) who entertained our 4-year-old the entire time we were seated and eating by the meat slicer (there was plexiglass separating us). He gave our son a slice of each different type of meat he brought to the slicer to taste. Our son left saying “this is the best day ever!!” Mateo made it such a wonderful experience, on top of the wonderful food!

Can an Italian not stop to eat in a place where they say they make delicious Italian food?Well obviously yes ?Tried this place from an Italian chain. The products are delicious, fresh and tasty. The Italian taste is all there even as an accompanying wine. It's a shame that the place is small otherwise you would have to reserve tables. The staff is kind and friendly. Meets customer needs well. Given the chance of having tried it here, next time I'll try it in Italy too

Unfortunately, this is way different than what I got in Florence. Protein is MINIMAL: there was barely any meat for a $20+ sandwich. The sandwich itself is too stiff and it hurts my mouth chewing at one point. Staff are great..
