It is a massive issue to allow people to book reservations at 2:45, not seat them (after showing up on time) until 2:52 and then rush them very rudely that the kitchen closes at 3…. Ok? Why did you offer a reservation at 2:45? The bar also closed within 20 minutes of us arriving. Plan for 1 drink limit! We had a very unpleasant rushed experience.

Strict 2 hour time slot… we were going to get dessert and then they literally told us we couldn’t because we were 4 minutes from the two hour mark… never heard of a restaurant refusing for us to buy more

Great neighborhood and super nice atmosphere. The food was average. We preferred the Greek salad and the peanut chicken salad and for dessert a key lime torte. It was ALL meah. I wouldn’t waste my time

Totally overpriced and underwhelming food. Spinach dip tasted like Trader Joe’s quality - I asked for my burger medium and it came out well done. Not worth the price tag. Hostess wouldn’t give us a larger table so we sat at a cocktail table to eat dinner

Extremely average. Was so excited to try this place and it did not live up to the expectations I had. Incredibly rude hostess from the beginning and we weren’t seated until 15mins after our reservation. No one once apologized and the food was incredibly average. Will not be going back

The food was good and the atmosphere was great. This is a place I definitely would go to for a casual dinner. However as I said, the food was good but I didnt feel like there was plenty of options for me. That is to say there are alot of option but not for me personally.

Table of 6 (including 1 child)

Burger was shockingly good (ordered it for our 4yr old, it was so juicy and full of flavor)

Peanut chicken salad: also a treasure to find

Pigs in a blanket: pretty standard but good.

cacio e pepe: usually isn't my fave type of dish but it was creamy without being overly butter. They nailed the balance between pepper & cheese.

Key lime tart was just the right amount of sweet.

Kid-friendliness: The burger & fries are a great sharing dish. They also offer plain pasta.

At American Bar, comfort food meets sophistication. The French onion soup was a rich, warm starter that set the tone for an exceptional meal. The main course—king salmon with crispy skin—paired beautifully with velvety whipped potatoes and perfectly cooked haricot vert. Each dish was executed with precision, creating a harmonious balance of flavors, making this a must-visit for those seeking a cozy yet refined dining experience.

Nice cozy bathroom. The colors were a bit weird though.

Customer
Frequent refills and checkups. Also the owner of the place came over to greet us cuz it was part of the Bilt credit card thing.

A bit cramped but pretty nice overall.

Oh my god everything was so delicious and juicy and well seasoned. Portions were perfect even the chips were nice. Only issue is the chocolate sauce for the ice cream was too bitter (and so is the chocolate ice cream)

I fear this restaurant has started solely relying on its location to draw a crowd of influencers and naive teenagers. The food is bland and boring — 2006 called and asked for its cookbook back. The service was standoffish and pushy. 3 stars because the bartenders were stellar, clearly they’ve had good training from working at other establishments.

we went the week of the 4th of july. this year american bar did $10 martinis (dirty or dry) all week. usually the martinis are $20 so this was a steal. the oysters were good and nice vive on the patio. cool, more lounge interior. would tho for the food but the patriotic happy hour is hard to beat.
