Food and drinks are terrible and too expensive food. Also, when you order any hot drink they give you a cup to fill it yourself but you can't refill it. Avoid if you can!

We went through the long line, thinking it was a cafe with a menu, then realized you grab and go. So if you don't make your decision quickly, those in line aren't too happy. Very thankful to have food and beverage options here, but overpriced and not many choices given the type of museum it is.

You will get hungry as you come to the museum to view all of the beautiful artwork. I knew that going in but what I didn't realize was 1) how large the museum is, and 2) how small this cafe is. Like me everyone else was ready to have a mid-afternoon snack before they started the 2nd half of their day viewing the art. The line wrapped around the corner and ended up delaying us about 30-35 minutes in getting to the front to be able to select what we wanted. This is a grab-and-go style of offerings for food and beverages. If you see something you like, as you walk by, be sure to grab it because there may not be another one like it or someone behind you is eyeing it too. All food seems to be replenished as it is noticed there are no more of that item. I could tell not everything was put out when I read through the menu they had up. At the registers will be the first and last time you will see someone working this cafe. Two cashiers were checking folks out as fast as they could but would get approached by other hungry museum-ers asking for utensils or napkins or where the nearest bathroom is. If you can wait it out, until you leave the museum, I would wait even if it is for a quick drink or a small snack. The line, quality, and pricing isn't worth it.

I have been to many museum cafes around the world and this is pretty much rock bottom. It has a poor selection, horrible food in a cold dreary setting. To top it off, though you would expect to pay more for food at a museum, this was way out of line for the amount and quality of the food.

Pathetic food selection, exuberant pricing and no service whatsoever. Think stale pre-packaged airport food for double the price. Shame! A museum with, probably, largest budget in the US cannot have this disgrace of a food service on its grounds. In New York! And they even have audacity asking for tips, what a nerve.

I bought hot coffee and during my dining, I saw a lot of people went to refilled with coffee or hot water, so I wanted to refill it but was rejected by waitress and asked me to buy another cup of coffee. Is this their usual way to treat customers?

I bought a salad. It was extremely expensive and tasted terrible. Not allowed to add coffee or hot water. The staff said need to pay another $2 for hot water. But the question is, I saw a lot of people coming to refill their coffee or hot water and their staff didn't reject. Find another place to feed yourself, come here if you can't physically eat your money. There are other 6 Cafes you can choose in the Met!

RUDE staff who didn’t let us add milk or water to our tea. I noticed a lot of people complained about this on here, MET, do something! I saw reviews on hot chocolate, tea, coffee, the staff won’t let you adjust your drink unless you pay $2 for hot water on top of the drink that you already overpaid for.I also saw a staff stopping a group from leaving, shouting “CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELVES!!!,” so remember to clean up and DON’T TIP because there’s no service (well, some bad service with attitude at the cashier)! All the food tasted horrible, eat anywhere else in the MET but here. You’ve been warned.Photo of the rude staff explaining why we can’t make the tea how we like it. Photo of our receipt attached also.
