Exceptional indie movie theater that I have frequent for over 5 years,They also have great customer service from Employees such as Ava who is always courteous and professional, I would highly recommend seeing a film at this theater.

Super cool cafe and theater. Good vibes and I love the movie selection Angelika theaters provide.

Where else do you get realistic subway noise through the walls that make you question “was that in the film?” Great theater

One can count on the Angelika to deliver the independent films that are thought provoking. This place is an institution and should be patronized every time you have the opportunity to do so.This time I saw “Perfect Days” - theatre was organized and the audience members were also given a special shout out in the introduction by the Director and protagonist.

This was my first ever independent film theater when I was in my 20s. It has been a few years since I've visited, but they still have friendly staff & it's always clean. The popcorn is good, too! ?

Since movies are old-hat ( and so am I , frankly), I no longer attend them. Of course, with modern amenities, just because I was in a movie theater sipping on cappuccino does not mean that I was movie-watching. However, my friend was and I was waiting for her to appear. The theatre was fine, the drink was fine and the location was fine. Many people drive to parks that used to be battlefields, I subway to entertainment halls that used to entertain. Vigorous changes scrub us clean, I suppose.

Interesting selection of movies old and new, foreign and domestic. Cafe is overpriced. We enjoyed Amelie, a French film from 2011. Nothing was playing in traditional theaters that appealed to us, so it was nice to be able to come here for something different. Bathrooms were on the lower level.

Pro: I love foreign films and Angelika has lots of 'emCon: The theaters here aren't sloped, so the seats are all at the same levelCon: I'm short, so I can't see the subtitles because if someone sits in front of me, no matter how far down, the screen is obstructedTLDR: Great movie selection, but I can't fully see the screen because the theaters were built out poorly

Classic cinema experience with an audience that respects the silver screen. Buy tickets well in advance unless you’re a singleton. Nice cafe and seating area so get there early and chill out.

Anne Marie Fischer

Small comfortable theatre with a great selection of movies

I was puzzled at the beginning of this film and wasn’t sure if l even wanted to stay. But I did stay and I haven’t stopped thinking about it.Slow but beautiful and progressively revealing. I have called so many people to recommend it.

So happy that places like this are still going strong in NYC ❤️

I really liked the place. You can get discounts on certain days and with free membership. I would definitely go more often, but I live six hours away.

This type of location is a sign of good cultural health in a city!
