Had dinner here for Iftar. Actually surprised how delicious everything was. Portions were hefty. We had to take the desserts to go, and they were just as delicious ?! We will definitely be back. Thank you to the staff ??

I was heading to the F train, this cold day on March 22, 2024, along Houston Street, when I decided to stopped for a bite. I passed by Ankara and saw a sign that said "good deals on falafels." Hmm. I wondered why it's good deals. Just curious. I went in anyway. The place was very clean and inviting. I ordered the falafel with lettuce, tomatoes, and Bermuda onions, on a pita bread. The yogurt sauce, hot sauce and another sauce was in different containers, which I'm glad. Usually the sauces are poured over the sandwich and it's all messy. They did put a little bit of tasty sauce though. Oh wow! The falafel came hot to the touch, but when I'd opened the wrapper, the veggies inside was cool and fresh!! The 3 falafels were crispy outside and has soft and tasty flavor inside. The side sauces were great also. It was fresh and clean with no oil or grease. I'd enjoyed every bit of it. I took a picture and sent it to my sister and message her how good it was. She said to order her one and her son said "I want one too." Now I'm curious to try other dishes on their menus. It looks delicious. I will bring my friends here for a nice dinner and will write another wonderful review for them. Very good food, Ankara #3. I'm impressed.

Fresh, delicious, beautifully prepared food, let alone for an after-hours meal. The falafel puts the usual suspects and food carts to shame, and the skewers are absurdly fresh and perfectly cooked. The baklava and rice pudding are as good as it gets, no joke. Can't recommend this place enough.

I miss your place sooo much. I had to move on December 1st to a new home in East Harlem. The East Village was like a second safe haven or second East Harlem to me. I was born and raised here and had to leave my original home for safety reasons. Staying in the East Village was heavenly. I could not afford to get an apartment there. The first affordable home came to me in East Harlem again so I took it. I was staying in my sibling’s old home so I had no choice. I miss my falafel sandwich that was on sale and so good. It helped me to get strong and healthy after having covid. I have a heart condition and lupus and I cannot just eat anything at 50 so being able to get food from you was a major ‘bereket’ or blessing. I remember meeting a man who seemed like the boss or owner there when a drunk woman passed out on the floor in your store. He was so caring as we waited for the ambulance to come for her. I loved your tea station and the candy you give out. How I wish I could order bags of that candy like you. Your workers are very kind and respectful. Everyone loves you there. I remember the other man always at the register or giving food to people once told me ‘I remember you’. My favorite spot was always sitting at the door next to the window. Now, you may never remember me since I cannot travel there regularly. It was good to see who appears to be a woman there. Maybe a sister of a worker there with her hijab. She is so blessed to work there. I love your location. You see all walks of life not just a lot of poorer people. Where I live, I am use to seeing a lot of poor people but I love all good people and thank God for giving me my home. If only Ankara was next to where I live or I was next to you. I will miss your rice pudding and your grape leaves filled with rice. I could’ve bought my picky teenage daughter French fries from there. My daughter Zara is half Turkish. I am Polish, Irish and Puerto Rican as a fellow Muslim since 1991. I told her father Omer from Sivas (he’s lived in America and NY for years now) to go to Ankara but he never listened. I bought them mango juice from there and ayran. I tried my first salgam turnip juice from you. I’ll never forget it or everything about your establishment. I only wish I could’ve went with my son there too(he’s half Yemeni from my ex). Teshekkur ederim for everything. The good memories will be cherished. -Jane

Every now and then I play shows in NYC. After said shows we make a point of getting gyros for the ride home, and this joint is capital B Busting. Nice staff, great food. So much for your buck too.

The dolmas were ok. The babaganoush a bit bland, expected to taste the smoky taste eggplant acquires after roasting... the bread was good. The lamb and the salad were acceptable. I went expecting a bit more flavor.
