If there was a way for me to give Ashoka over 5 stars...I would. This is one of the most incredible Indian restaurants. Every item I have gotten from here has exceeded my expectations. Their Chana Pindi has become a staple for me. And a recent try of their kadai paneer is what influenced me to review here. And do not forget their garlic naan *chef's kiss* I N C R E D I B L E

Based on an order of two entrees, bread and a glass of wine, we are impressed with the food and the ambience. Lamb saag had very good quality meat and the high-level of spice I requested. A little but not too much glaze from oil. Chicken Tikka masala, my wife's favorite, had very good quality chicken and the sauce was much better than the Campbell Soup variety that is often served at other establishments. Parata bread was quite good with layers. Restaurant design was pleasing (but they forgot to upgrade the bathroom). Would like to have more dishes to give a more thorough review, but I am certainly going back next time I am in town.

This is the best Indian Restaurant in NewYork. The food is great and the service is amazing. Ask for Ravi - grand host. Gives you the best food recommendations. The food melts in your mouth. I like the appetizers the most and would recommend the get a few appetizers rather than the main course. I would go back here all the time. On Friday and Saturday they have live jazz . Best, Joy

We got delivery and the food came quickly and was hot. It’s good North Indian food. We got the okra which randomly had onions and peppers mixed in. The malai kofta was good too. Loved the aloo chaat appetizer!

I had an issue with my order this evening - NOT Ashoka's fault. A container opened in transit. Not only did they without question resend the meal, it was incredibly fast. I've been ordering Indian in the city for 20 years, lived in many different neighborhoods, and this is a great place for takeaway.

Hands down the best Indian food in the area. Never disappoints. Ashoka's flavors, quality, and menu options have something for everyone, and they are very accommodating of my nut allergy. Ashoka is our go to Indian restaurant in the neighborhood, with some of our favorites being the chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, bhindi do piazza, garlic naan...have yet to have a bad meal.

Dear customers:Please DON’T leave the TIPS in CREDIT CARD because you intend to give tip to servers but they don’t get it. The owner keeps the credit card tips. This is prevalent in Indian restaurants across the city. It is outrages and ILLEGAL as per labor law in New York, “Labor Law Section 196-d applies to all private sector employees in all industries and prohibits an employer or their agent from demanding or accepting, directlyor indirectly, any tip left for an employee, or retaining any part of a charge purported to be a tip.” Food is good here . I hope when you dine give it in cash if possible.

Ashoka is an amazing indian restaurant, have been going there for a while during lunch time. They have great options and amazing food! However, on Wednesday when I went for lunch around 2 pm, I witnessed a very unpleasant act. The waitress who was attending my table, in a very attentive and cordial way, made a mistake with our bill. I believe that for this reason, an older gentleman began to yell at her and humiliate her. The screams were heard all over the place. From my point of view, it is understandable that waiters reprimand and teach new employees but that’s not the way. It is unfortunately, since the food is sensational to me and that the image of the restaurant is affected by this type of person. It’s disappointing!

I'm visiting from out of town and wanted some yummy takeout. I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor, value and portions! I ordered the dinner special with chicken tikki masala which came with an appetizer of my choice, rice, naan and raita! And a little dessert! I ordered a raita and naan on the side because I didn't know it came with raita and I expected the naan to be much smaller. The flavors were great, the packaging, the delivery all of it. Really pleased and would order again if I was in the neighborhood!

I ordered the paneer tikka masala and it was THE BEST I've ever had - absolutely creamy and delicious. The paneer was cooked to perfection and the right consistency. Highly recommend!

Ashoka is a hidden gem on the UWS, and honestly, some of the best Indian I have ever had. We stopped in on a snowy Sunday evening, and found ourselves the only people there. Given the weather, we were unphased and went ahead and got a table. We started with a couple of glasses of surprisingly nice sauvingnon blanc, and snacked on crispy pappadum with tamarind sauce. For dinner, she settled on the classic paneer tikka masala, whereas I went for a spicier kadhai paneer, both served with basmati. Both were absolutely phenomenal- whereas mine was flavorful and spicy, her tikka was somehow even better, and was the highlight of the meal. It was perfectly spiced and rich, heavy on the the ghee and cream that really make a good decadent tikka so decadent and perfect for a cold night. We enjoyed our curries with the perfectly crispy and charred tandoori naan, sampling both the plain and garlic varieties. Anticipating a run of the mill Indian dinner, we were so unexpectedly pleased at the quality and flavor of the food, and will be hard pressed to not make another trip when in the area again.

The hotel is located right in the heart of the city. Covid vaccination certificate checks were made.We ordered Gobhi for starter. For mains we ordered 2 Tandoori rotis, Dal and Aloo Gobhi, both of which come with a small portion of rice, for the 3 of us and it was sufficient. Food taste could have been slightly better. I felt it lacked a bit of flavour. The staff was extremely polite and welcoming. Mr Ravi, the manager promptly accommodated all our requests. The ambience was relaxing and soothing.

PLEASE DON’T leave the tip on credit card check because the servers don’t get it. I dine here and the when the server brought the check he quietly mentioned tip in cash when I asked he said, “if you leave in credit card, I don’t get it. The owner keep it”. Which is sad and illegal in the US. I am not going back to this restaurant anymore.
