I had an unforgettable dinner at Atena NYC on November 19, 2025 at 7:00 PM, and it was exceptional from beginning to end. The moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality. Every team member we interacted with was knowledgeable, attentive, and truly made us feel taken care of.
A very special thank you to the chef, who graciously gave us a tour of the entire restaurant. It was such an unexpected and memorable experience, and it really showed why Atena has earned its 2 stars…the passion, precision, and pride behind every detail are unmistakable.
The food was outstanding, beautifully executed, balanced, and full of flavor. Each dish was thoughtful and refined, with high-quality ingredients showcased in a way that felt both creative and comforting. The pacing of the meal was perfect, and every plate demonstrated the kind of technique and consistency worthy of its accolades.
The wine selection was equally impressive. Our server guided us through pairings that elevated each course without overpowering the dishes. The wine program clearly reflects the same level of care and expertise as the kitchen.
Overall, Atena delivers a truly remarkable dining experience, exceptional hospitality, refined cuisine, thoughtful wine pairings, and a team that genuinely cares. Their 2 stars are well-deserved, and I highly recommend Atena to anyone looking for an elevated and memorable dinner in New York City.

We hosted a work dinner in a private room at Atera and I will say it was the perfect choice! Food was amazing, wine pairing was fab, service was excellent, and the ambience was just right for hosting customers, prospects, and execs. The entrance was interesting and a bit mysterious (slightly dark and narrow halls) but as soon as you get in, you have a private room with 3 dedicated chefs waiting. Every single plate served was lovely and the ambience allowed for great conversations making the evening memorable. Would like to come back with my husband next!

Atera is truly a special dining experience. Every course is creative, beautifully presented, and full of surprising, balanced flavors. You can tell how much thought and skill goes into each dish — it’s like art on a plate. The service is warm and professional, and the intimate setting makes the whole experience feel personal and memorable. Definitely one of the best tasting menus in the city. 🍽️✨

This is a review of dinner on July 4, 2025:
Being welcomed at the door on the street to this hidden restaurant was a nice touch, but that’s where the warmth ended. Inside, the atmosphere felt overly austere and quiet—almost cold. There was no real conversation or connection with the staff, and having a different server for every course made it impossible to build any rapport.
The food was generally well-executed but leaned heavily into the “every bite is an umami bomb” approach. It’s an Asian-inspired Scandinavian style that, at this point, doesn’t feel particularly original. I was hoping for something more inventive, especially from a two-star Michelin spot, but there weren’t any real surprises throughout the meal.
One of my courses arrived missing an element—something I only noticed because of my husband’s plate. It took quite a while to fix, and the staff barely acknowledged the error, which I found unacceptable given the price point.
Overall, Atera is dated, and the service didn’t meet two-star standards. I wouldn’t recommend it—there are far more innovative and inviting dining experiences in NYC right now.

Amazing atmosphere! Truly feels like a NYC dining experience right in Scranton, PA. Service is also top notch- ask for Grace. She’s the best!

This was both the best travel experience and the best food experience I’ve ever had. 13 courses, 15 bites, every one executed to absolute perfection. I couldn’t pick a favorite dish. They were all to die for. We also got the non alcoholic pairing with the meal and it was so flavorful, not just flavored soda water like most “mocktails”. We were seated in an intimate room with the chefs plating the dishes at a station at the front of the room. It was dinner and a show all in one. The service was also exceptional from start to finish. I did so much research on which chef’s tasting menu to try in NYC, and ultimately picked this one. It was so good that I might not try another one when visiting nyc. I might just come back to this one every time. Those two Michelin stars were deservedly earned.
Tasting menu was $298pp, non alcoholic pairing was $138pp.

Every course is a little work of art on a plate. The pairings of wines with each dish was well-balanced and complimentary. Technically, excellent cooking.
The seating is arranged along a U-shaped bar and the atmosphere is subdued, like a late-night cocktail bar. The staff is very polite, professional, but rather formal. Even though we were served by chefs, the sommelier, and wait staff, we were never able to establish a rapport with anyone the whole evening.
With the skills and preparations being as high as they were, we were surprised that the chefs and staff expressed no point of view about their offerings. Even the menu they give you is fundamentally just an ingredients list.
So while I would rate the food quality as excellent, I would say we walked away with no perspective about what Atera is about or where they are going.

I absolutely loved my experience at Atera, from the service of everyone there, servers and chefs alike who all seemed in sync even when patrons were all at different parts of the tasting menu, to the actual mouth journey and experiences provided through the ingredients, the unique flavor combinations and how they were prepared. I would definitely come back to try a different menu. I included some of my favorite dishes, but it's definitely something to be experienced for yourself!

I ate there once, alone, and spent 1,200 and still felt like it was a good deal. Enough said.
