Addition to the neighborhood. Me is a health food that meets here as well as their sites of treats are really delicious a great restaurant, gone well.
If I could give a zero I absolutely would. It’s hate to waste money on nasty food. Everything I ordered was disgusting, in fact the meat had a smell of dog food. The sides were bland. Would not recommend this fake BBQ it’s more like microwave scraps 🤮🤮. I was so mad I asked Uber for my money back!
This place is so special in the Washington Heights neighborhood. The food is absolutely delicious. I couldn't believe how good the ribs and cornbread were. They always have a daily special and the staff is very nice. I finally found an amazing barbecue place in NYC that I am obsessed with.
One of my favorite places to get dinner. Great prices. I’ve tried half the menu and the only thing I didn’t love was the Reuben, I’ve had bbq chicken, pork, beef, most of the sides. I always wait for the pecan pie to be available on uber eats before ordering because it’s their best pie. My go-tos are the Mac n cheese, Tulsa pulled pork, sautéed kale, cornbread, chicken pot pie soup, and the roast beef sandwich.
The size of the brisket sandwich was generous for its price, & the fixings were just right. A bit disappointed that it wasn't served a little warmer. I liked stumbling upon this picture of St. Vincent, but I'd wager that it's on the wall because she was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, not because she visited this barbecue joint in Washington Heights, New York. Correct me if I'm wrong! I hope I'm wrong. All Born Screaming!
Disappointing. Dry rubbed bbq roasted chicken was very bland. Definitely will not be ordering from here again.
The brisket lacked flavor, the Mac and cheese needed to be heated longer.. just saying
If you’re in the Washington Heights area and craving delicious, comforting food, look no further than Au Jus. Specializing in Oklahoma-style BBQ, this place is a true hidden gem on Broadway. I had the pleasure of trying a few standout items from the menu, and everything exceeded expectations. The brisket was smoky, tender, and practically melted in my mouth — the perfect balance of savory and rich flavors. The onion burger was another highlight, with a juicy patty and caramelized onions that added just the right touch of sweetness.
For sides, the Gouda mac and cheese was the definition of comfort food — creamy, cheesy, and with just the right amount of bite. It’s one of those dishes you keep coming back to, bite after bite.
One of the real standouts at Au Jus is the homemade barbecue sauces. The gold-style BBQ sauce and the hot sauces are outstanding — the perfect accompaniment to the rich, smoky flavors of the meats.
While the in-restaurant seating isn’t the most robust, Au Jus is fantastic for quick dining and even better for takeout and delivery. Whether you’re grabbing a meal to go or having it delivered, the quality remains top-notch. You can tell that every dish is made with care — it’s clearly a labor of love, and it shows in every bite. Great food, friendly service, and unbeatable convenience make Au Jus a must-try for BBQ lovers in the neighborhood. Highly recommended!
Kid-friendliness: Au Jus is also a fantastic spot for families. The menu is super kid-friendly, especially with classics like the Gouda mac and cheese that little ones will love. Plus, the tender barbecue options are perfect for introducing kids to smoky, flavorful meats. Whether you’re dining in or taking it to go, it’s a great choice for a family meal that everyone can enjoy.

I have ordered several times from them, and every time, items were "forgotten". No utensils even if requested, sides missing, dressing or bbq sauce missing. I gave it a chance. I am just not going to bother anymore.

I was on Uber Eats and saw this restaurant and so I googled it and call and ordered my food over the phone. Now their advertisement says Roasted Leg of Lamb which is it not and I mean not. The lamb was tough and chewy. The salad wasn't bad but no dressing and the string beans was ok. I called the restaurant and told the man on the other end of the phone that their advertisement is wrong this is not Roasted Leg of Lamb. So I am rating it a two star.

Long story short the were kind and professional but the food was surprisingly bad tonight. I was a bit concerned when I saw the meat being microwaved and subsequently the chicken ended up being chewy and a bit rubbery. The burger was insanely salty, like inedibly salty and it was what I was most excited about. I only eat red meat once a week and was really looking forward to this burger. Thank goodness for the baked beans, they were great as always and at least the soda was ice cold. Just not very good or even edible overall and all went in the garbage except for the delicious beans. Maybe I have to go earlier in the day and not the last hour and a half before closing. Definitely surprising.

First of all I thought this was another type of business...the front does scream FOOD Served here at all. Had my mom not guided me I would have missed it all day...It sort if reminds me of a reading room no smell or aroma of what is mentioned in the menu..Just 2 humongous picnic tables & photos, etc...So as I make my pass the tables wondering WTH is this I see a small kitchen 3 people bumping into one another as they each do different assignments...My first glance was the African younglady with braiding to her hips handling FOOD with NO HAIR NETTING TO PREVENT PARTICLES FROM GETTING INTO THE FOOD. So I as well as my mom mention it to the cashier who totally let it go over his head..he & the other preparer had Basecaps on..still not good...So now here comes the choice to decide on what to do...Sad to say the food was made too quick & was not tasty at all. My first & last visit...Where are the real chefs cooking the food. Try hiring them for the food advertisements on your menu..That entire kitchen needs a uhaul for any service with a cook.
