The food was not good and overpriced. I had a dish that was basically chickpeas in yogurt with the dried up chunks of lamb, and all for $36. And then the drink, a French 75 that was good, but tiny for $20. These are prices you pay at fancy uptown restaurants. Total price for two, including tip, was almost $200 (we did not hold back on the tip because service was good). Crazy! With that said, the wait staff was excellent and the ambiance is nice. But I would not go back as food...
The food here has something you can't find at other places. The food here shows clear distinction. I knew where Au Za'atar was located, but didn't expect such welcoming service. The staff delivers exceptional care! This place doesn't follow trends.
The Wara eenab (dolma, grape leaves) was so lovely! Came with pita, tomato bits and two spreads (gaba ghanoush and sour cream?) with it for $18 total. Best I've had so far. Entrees are easily 40+ to 100+.
