This place serves fresh pastries all day. They bake them in store and they have a variety of pastry selection. I go with their almond croissants but give their raisin creamique a try too. The bread texture, the filling and the softness of the dough is nicely done.

I was in the shop on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at noon time.
When I was selecting the food and was ready to pay, the sales person who was the head of the shift started verbally to force me to pay out quickly and choose my food faster. That behavior and pressure created for me fearful atmosphere and was frustrating. Secondly, the shop has downstairs that leads to a bathroom and restrooms, but sales person denied my access to the mensroom, even I was eating the food and was a customer for the shop at that moment. This was really rude and was frustrating to me. Bad customer relation.

eh. very average but looked so good
Aux Merveilleux de Fred is a delight for pastry lovers. The croissants are amazing, and the Chocolate Cramique and Pain au Lait with ganache are irresistible—rich, fresh, and perfectly indulgent.

Most correct croissants on UES. Buttery, flaky, outer-layer hint of crunch. Everything else is good too.

I read about this place in a New York Times article and decided to come. A total disappointment. We had ordered a chocolate croissant and a chocolate chip brioche. The croissant was straight out from the fridge, and a brioche was stale. We also ordered an iced coffee and the guy on the counter gave us a boiling hot coffee with ice in it.

Delicious croissant! It was fresh out of the oven, flaky and buttery- definitely recommend. My only suggestion would be to make the bakery a bit cozier and display the croissants on the inside with the other products.

Had a chocolate chip cramique (brioche bun)… the best pastry I’ve had in a long time. Delightful, warm brioche and just a little bit sweet.

I stumbled by here when I was in the area. The window display got me! Everything looked so delicious. I must have went during off peak because this place needs to be more popular. Everyone was baking and I was very shy on what to order so I just waited until the staff was done. The waffle vanilla thing was not good. It was not a real waffle and just a pattern. I also got the milk donut I think. It was sooo good.

Apparently a global brand, which opened in UES. We tried the milk bread with cream, sugar Cramique, chocolate Merveilleux, and coffees.
I believe they are most well known for the Merveilleux - this was delicious, cream and chocolate shaving on meringue. We had the sugar Cramique when it just came out of the oven; it was really good as well, but very floury, so wasn't sure if it would be good when cooled down. The milk bread with rum cream was a let down... The cream had separated a bit and the bread didn't feel too special.
I would go back for the Merveilleuxs.
