Very touristy. Food okay but no reason to go back. Staff very nice. Glad we tried it but not sure what the hype is about.
Very attentive waiters/waitresses. Interior is very pretty. Drinks were great. Food was awesome.
The slowest service we have ever had here. We had an early show and barely made it despite arriving at 5 pm.
It was a great experience the food was delicious we ordered the pull a parm for appetizers and the ricotta w spicy honey and for main we did the cacio pepe black truffle and the lemon chicken amazing both for dessert the lemon cheese cake wow wow . I recommend you visit the restaurant I know I am definitely coming back soon.

This meal wasn’t bad, but for the vibes, presentation, and price, we expected the food to be a lot better and it was pretty much all very mid or average:
Whipped Ricotta: this was probably the best dish of the night. Truffle honey was delcious and the whipped ricotta was very light and fluffy. I wasn’t a fan of the toasts that come with it, but they were okay.
Yellowfin Tuna Tartare: Even in the dim lighting, we could tell that the fish was mixed with tomato which is fine. But there was way more tomato than fish, it tasted like we were eating a tomato tartare. For $32, I would have hoped it would be the other way around. It was also very bland and lacked any depth, and overall a very boring dish. They serve it with two toasts that were so hard and crunchy I couldn’t even finish mine because it was cutting the inside of my mouth.
Wedge Salad: There was SOOOO much dressing on this salad….everytime i lifted up a bite dressing would drip off, and it coated the inside of my mouth in a bad way that made it feel like i was eating only dressing. That all happened in the first bite, so you can imagine that over time it just gets saltier and saltier because of how much dressing you’re eating. Toppings are fine, but it was hard to enjoy it at all with how much dressing was on there.
Pasta: the flavors for the truffle pasta and chicken rigatoni were good, but both overly salty. Our problem was with the pasta texture, which was doughy or hard. The truffle had a really doughy pasta, it was cooked all the way but it was so thick…the sauce had also split leaving a very oily sauce. With the rigatoni, the pasta tasted like it had been cooked 30 minutes prior, left out to sit in a colander, dried out, then mixed with a sauce. The pasta had this weird firm outer layer that i couldnt get past.
We were hoping the food would get better, but overall a letdown.
Service was fine, waiter and server were hoth really friendly although we did have to wait quite a bit of time to order and get our check but don’t think that is an issue.

The only reason we would dare return is because of our server Felix. It's too bad he had too many tables to wait. He was spread thin, the managers that kept checking in on tables never bothered to check in with us. The people who leave the food and pick up the food took our plates without asking if we were ever done. Both of our entrees were mediocre with our meat being over cooked. The whole atmosphere was loud and chaotic and I stepped in gum on the way to the restroom. This was a horrible experience and we will not be back on our next trip.

The hype is worth it. I found this via an instagram post about the steak with the Cacio e Pepe ravioli on top. It was one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. So was the lemon cheesecake…that looked like lemons on a plate. Also the vibe of this place is very cool. I hope I get to visit again!

Restaurantji Recommends
I have been to Bad Roman many times, and it is a place you always want to come back to. Bartender Petros is very attentive and makes you feel at home every time you visit. The drinks are fabulous, and it’s also an amazing place to socialize. Bad Roman has a great ambience and never disappoints. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to have a good time in NYC!

Petros is the best!
We ate at Bad Roman tonight (party of 3). We aren’t from New York, so coming here was supposed to be a really special treat. Unfortunately, the first few minutes were so shockingly bad that we almost walked out. We hit traffic and tried three times to call the restaurant to let them know we’d be late, no one answered. When we finally arrived, we rushed to the host stand to explain. The hostess was without question the most unkind, unwelcoming, and condescending host I’ve ever encountered in any restaurant. She told us in the sharpest, most dismissive tone: “We have a 15-minute late period, and you’re late 23 minutes. I’ve been at this stand all night and didn’t receive any calls.” The way she said it, the condescending tone, the lack of basic courtesy, was astonishing. We weren’t looking for special treatment, only kindness and understanding. Instead, we were made to feel small, embarrassed, and unwelcome. Honestly, the way she spoke to us was so unnecessary that we should have left at that point.
And yet, thank goodness we didn’t. Once we were seated in the bar area, our server Jay turned the entire night around. He was everything the hostess wasn’t: warm, kind, attentive, knowledgeable, and hilarious. He made us feel cared for from start to finish, without even knowing how badly the evening had started. Jay is the kind of server who reminds you why dining out can be such a joy, he made us laugh, gave great recommendations, and made the experience feel truly special.
The food, too, was excellent. We shared the Caesar salad, Brussels sprouts, and bread to start, and all three were fantastic. For our mains, we each ordered the famous filet with the cacio e pepe raviolo, which was every bit as indulgent and unforgettable as promised. We ended with a few desserts, and every dish was spot-on delicious.
So here’s the reality: Bad Roman offers incredible food and outstanding servers like Jay, but the front door experience is broken. First impressions matter, and being spoken to in such a condescending way nearly cost this restaurant three diners and a glowing review. But thanks to Jay, what began as a terrible experience was completely turned around into a 5-star night. Thank you, Jay!

Don’t go here. Insanely rude staff.
Honestly yall, It’s nyc there’s much better restaurants and seeing the reviews (4.1 on google) you could do much better and cheaper.
Service was incredibly rude. I asked a question about seeing the dessert menu and got completely ignored even though the guy is looking and acknowledging me. Servers and host talked down to us. I even discussed this with the manager but was ignored again.
All we did was order food and ask to see a dessert menu but treated so poorly
