Is a bagel 🥯 w/ cream cheese a viable substitute for pizza? Yes, especially when you realize it's cash-only at the over-hyped Joe's Pizza next door. Veggie cream cheese on a poppy bagel is a refreshing combination. Sorry for not including a picture; I think a tourist seeking directions to Washington Square interrupted me before I took the shot.

Very good bagels and spreads. Nice breakfast menu that even has burritos! Great customer service and fair prices. Very solid place.
Update: Had a BEC on toasted roll today that was so good. Starting to warm up to this place.

So back in the day, that being 1983-84, I used to live across the road on Minetta St in a room off the landlord's apartment, which came with a bed a fridge and a kettle and that was it. So a bagel & cream cheese at this place became my morning filler until lunchtime. Great to see its still going strong, assuming the same crew? They should give lessons to the 'get-rich-quick' crowd on business longevity in addition, if y'ask me!
