I had an amazing Serbian lunch today at this nice small NYC cafe @balkan_streat. The food was delicious and yummy ?? the place was spotless and very good and friendly service. I highly recommend this. From burek and warm pittas to Shopska salad and apple or sourer cherry pie! ? they also have good Balkan beer and drinks. It hit the spot! #balkanfood #serbian #nyc #cafe #burek #beer #EasternEuropean #yummy #lunch #amazing #food #ny #restourants #tooplaces

It was my 1st time there and I'll be back. The cevapi platter for $15 was extremely tasty. I woke up craving Balkan food and this place hit the spot. The owner and staff member were super friendly.

The ćevapi are spot on and taste like they do in the Balkans. The pita is fresh and fluffy as it should be. I am not sure why they cut up the pita and have the add ons on the side. If you’re in the Balkans, the pita comes whole and stuffed with ćevapi and the add ons. I thought that was strange. I would of liked to see the onions grilled instead of raw.The maslenica could have been fresher. It tasted like it was a day old. It just did not taste like how they make it in the motherland.Would recommend the ćevapi if you’re here and skip the maslenica.

Absolutelly amazing. Food was delivered in 30 min, taste delicious. Also, we went to the place to eat and it was great as well.P.S. Note for some people that discuss pricing: try to run business with fresh food in Manhattan and let us know how much you would charge.

The ambient was nice ?? I really felt for a moment like traveling to a modern version of the former SFRJ (Yugoslavia). I went in, and it was playing old Yugoslav music. A few moments later, English music started to play, and I woke up out of my dream and found myself in the capital west again ?The staff was really friendly, but they did not understand the typical jokes from that area. They were probably born already in the U.S. or weren’t home for a while anymore. That was actually the first time in my life when I wasn’t invited as a countryman to any dessert or traditional coffee afterward, and believe me, I tried Balkan restaurants in every country I traveled to! So far, this was my 3rd in NYC.The food wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t say it was amazing! I can only talk about their so called Burger, because that was the only thing I ordered today! There were either onions, paprika, or some other vegetables in the meat of my Pljeskavica as they tried to stretch the meat with vegetables. That was new for me. It was okay, but probably a one-time visit. For people who have no time to travel to the Balkans but would like to feel some homely atmosphere, it’s a nice place to visit. But with the pricing and the size of the portion, it’s definitely too expensive, in my opinion.$16.47 / 15.16€ / 1,778 RSD / 29.70 KM (23.08.2023 - 08/23/2023) for a only one Pljeskavica / Burger is, without any side dishes included is in my opinion, too much! Also, I don't know how well their business will go once the new Tashkent supermarket with gastronomy opens on the opposite side of the road from them. The owners of Balkan StrEAT should travel to Brighton Beach to take a look at their future opponents' flagship supermarket with gastronomy and reconsider pricing and portions. This was my personal review of Balkan StrEAT

Wanted to grab some food while in the area and this place delivered. The space is nice, clean and minimal, yet comfortable. The food is super fresh, the buns and kebabs with fresh cut onions reminded me of childhood. The guy at the counter was super helpful with the recommendations and very friendly. Will definitely come again and recommend to friends.

Great place, nicely decorated, awesome atmosphere and music. It's great that they play Balkan music to keep up the ambience, it's a really important aspect of preserving the authenticity.Mr. Vladimir is extremely friendly and hospitable, great service.

Their donuts are so soft and pillowy! I got pistachio and Nutella. The pistachio filling was tasty and not too sweet. They also have other flavors that I would like to try next time.
Excellent Balkan - we are so excited to have found this place! The šopska, burek, čevapi, plejskaviča are legit!

Food is really authentic, burek with cheese is in same time crispy and soft and stuffed balkan burger is like in Leskovac( kingdom of Balkan barbecue). Matija explained all about food. I will be back here for sure!

Even though this is my place of work I felt the need to rate and give my opinion. The food that the restaurant offers is authentic and by all standards this is the only restaurant that follows the strict Sarajevo style preparation of meat. All the ingredients are the top quality meats and vegetables. You will always be welcomed with a smile and you will never feel like a guest in a restaurant, but more like an old friend seeing another old friend after many years! My faves are Sis Cevap (single long kebab packed with ajvar {pepper spread}, cabbage and raw onions in a long somun bread dough), roasted pepper salad with garlic, as well as sour cherry pie (think of gramma homemade style pie) and apricot jam donut. This place is a must and a daily dose of good food! Come check us out!
Vegetarian options: Burek (hand-stretched filo) with spinach and cheese and potato and onion as well as roasted pepper, cabbage and shopska salads are a must!
Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is wheelchair accessible and the restaurant has a designated wheelchair accessible table.
