Have eaten there before but not recently. The food was poor. The size of the servings particularly the salads was very small and overpriced. Yes I know prices have risen, I live in a large city and understand why.
Service not great either. Should have been better after the theatre
goers left, but did not notice any improvement. The people seated near us were not happy either and said they would not return.

We were excited to dine at Boulud before a ballet performance, given its reputation and the name behind it. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. Despite plenty of visible empty tables around 6:30 PM, the hostess told us the only availability was after 8 PM. We settled for the bar instead, but service went downhill from there.

The bartender seemed unfamiliar with the menu and offered just one vague recommendation. We ordered drinks and fries, but when the fries arrived, his attitude turned noticeably rude—throwing napkins, failing to provide plates or utensils, and showing a complete lack of professionalism. When we asked for the check, he literally tossed it at us. And finally when we left we still saw sooo many tables empty inside and outside :)

This was, hands down, one of the most unpleasant dining experiences I’ve had in NYC. For a restaurant associated with a renowned chef, the lack of basic courtesy and service standards is unacceptable.

We finished up a work thing in the neighborhood recently and decided to get a drink and small bites to thank everybody and we selected this place. Even though we were getting some food and drinks we couldn’t be seated outside or at a regular table. Once we were put at the bar it took a strangely long time for them to acknowledge us or even bring us menus. Honestly the food and drinks we got were forgettable and the music was strangely loud. Overall not great and I won’t be coming back.

Huge fan of Daniel Boulud. I have been to the bar before. But very disappointed about the front desk.
The woman in the front desk was not welcoming at all. My friend was already waiting in the restaurant telling me exactly where she was seated. I walked in and had the feeling that she didn’t even believe me when I said that my friend was already waiting inside. It is okay if you double check but I didn’t feel like it was a welcoming space and being looked down on. I appreciate the brand boulud but for my next opera visit I will chose a different bar.

Food is good. Hosts always good. Service average. One of the best in the area for Lincoln Center area performances dining.

Have eaten here multiple occasions for the last 10 plus years. The food quality remains outstanding. Wine list is excellent. This time, May 9, the initial arrival, check-in and table was frustrating, combative. Manager eventually worked to fix this. Greatly appreciated. The issue was the server, service. 100% overwhelmed, disjointed, not sincere, very poor follow up, check in, rushed. Worst ever at this restaurant. Management was informed. They have an outdoor seating area too. Almost doubles capacity. Seemed highly understaffed for volume of tables seated. After my initial review, a person from the restaurant or Boulud group replied. It seemed nice. I was asked to reach out for further discussion via email. I did so. More than two weeks have passed. ZERO follow up to my email. My perception is the sincerity of their initial reply to me was not real. I have changed my rating to 1 star. Time to find a new pre opera dining option.

This restaurant, led by a famous chef, truly delivers on all fronts. The menu is creative and well-executed, and the wine list is excellent. Service was impressively fast and attentive without ever feeling rushed. The atmosphere inside is warm and welcoming, and the outdoor seating is just as inviting — comfortable, well-covered, and protected from bad weather. Don’t hesitate to reserve an outdoor table; it’s a great option. A top-notch dining experience all around.

Terrible service. Waiter served water and disappeared, I was calling the attention of everyone and finally the lady at the entrance, who receives people came to help. Three times I was asked how I wanted my meat cooked by different people, what was so difficult? Hamburger was meh loaded with pickles that I don’t like, granted I forgot to tell them but overall, I’ve had better burgers even at the same place. I wanted to pay and the waiter had disappeared again. Went for coffee next door and there was a circle of waiters outside joking and laughing. Hey they are allowed to have fun but not during work and so evidently. No wonder the waiter at my table had disappeared. Not going back

Is one of the best place in the city to have onion soups but never go when is an important performance at the Lincoln Center because It is very crowded, nothing was excellent except the soup and it is very expensive for such poor quality, for example the bread was rubbery and wet…unforgivable for a French chef's place👎

We recently dined at Bar Boulud. I appreciated the efficient and accommodating service. I ordered the Ōra king salmon and requested the bacon be excluded. The server handled my request seamlessly. My husband opted for the Entrecôte. While the food was delicious, it was a bit too salty for our taste.

For dessert, we shared the Grapefruit Givré with sesame halva, rose loukum, and grapefruit sorbet—a dessert I first tried at Boulud Sud. It was just as delightful as I remembered and the highlight of the meal.

We had dinner there with friends just before going to opera (it’s very conveniently located right by the opera house)

We ordered beef tartar, pate, snails , salad with fennel and chocolate cake for desert.

Service was very nice and attentive. Highly recommend , especially if you are looking for the place dinner before the opera.
