Bar Pitti obviously has a vibe, but honestly, it makes zero sense that in 2025 they still don’t have a waitlist. It turns the whole experience into chaos, if you’re not standing inside that tiny box at the entrance, you basically won’t get in and people will absolutely cut the line, especially the ones who “know someone.” It’s messy, not charming.

I used to love the food, but this time it wasn’t life changing at all, the service was meh, and the line situation was a disaster. NYC has so many better options with way higher quality. Bar Pitti just isn’t giving anymore.

Cafeteria vibes, average pasta, and an automatic tip — overpriced for the experience.

I was excited to finally try Bar Pitti, but it didn’t live up to the hype. The space is extremely tight (even for NYC), and the whole experience felt more cafeteria/assembly-line than cozy Italian. Dishes came out fast but without much care. The pasta and mushrooms looked fine but tasted pretty flat.

For four people, our bill was about $270, the tip was automatically added without being clearly communicated. The receipt even suggests gratuity, so it’s easy to accidentally tip twice. Just something future guests should know.

Bar Pitti is a very charming Italian restaurant, really well located and with a lively atmosphere that makes it a great spot to enjoy a meal. The ambience is warm and welcoming, and you’re attended by Italian servers, which adds an authentic touch to the experience.

We started with bruschettas topped with prosciutto, which were excellent—simple yet full of flavor. They also brought fresh bread with olive oil to the table, a nice classic touch. For the main dishes, we tried a few different pastas. The truffle fettuccini was good, but honestly, the truffle flavor wasn’t as strong or rich as we had hoped. The carbonara, on the other hand, was excellent—creamy, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the meal. The tagliatelle with marinara sauce was fine, though nothing particularly special.

One thing to note is that the restaurant does not accept credit cards, which is quite unusual and a bit inconvenient. On top of that, an automatic 18% gratuity is added to the bill, which I personally did not like, as I prefer to decide the tip myself based on the service.

Overall, Bar Pitti has great vibes, attentive service, and some solid dishes—especially the carbonara. But the payment policy and the mandatory gratuity are definitely something to keep in mind before going.

Food is good, no frills nice home cooked-Esque Italian but comes with a hefty price tag for what it is. Dinner for 2 with 2 pastas, salad and tip coming to close to $100. $26 for a rocket, Parmesan and veg salad is just ridiculous. Service was fine. Pasta was good but not what u would expect for $30. Pricing means I would not suggest to a friend.

Tucked into a snug spot with no full liquor license, Bar Pitti punches way above its weight—especially when it comes to that Negroni Sbagliato. Sparkling, balanced, and downright addictive, it was the perfect opener for our evening.
Service here feels like catching up with old friends: attentive without hovering, warm without fuss. Prices for the food and wines? Refreshingly moderate—no sticker shock, just solid value.
We dove into the fegato (rich, perfectly seared calf's liver) and the Milanese (crispy veal cutlet that lived up to its golden promise), both hits that left us scraping plates clean. The Sauvignon Blanc was a standout—crisp, vibrant, and spot-on. Fun fact: It's the same pour they were featuring at Marea not too long ago, so you know it's got pedigree.
The only hiccup? Their basement ATM decided to dispense our cash in two batches, and in the post-meal haze, we snagged just the first. Whoever fished out that forgotten envelope owes us a round. (Kidding—enjoy the windfall, lucky stranger.)

Great pastas in a nice location but cash only and the specials menu was difficult to read the hand writing

Price range is ok for NY. But High for the experience. The service is terrible. Obnoxious people pretending to be cool. The kids on the table next to me were miss treated from the moment they got in. A bad place to go. Will never be there again. No need

Absolutely amazingly deliciious food. We dine here every time we visit NYC. Don't worry about the wait, they turn tables around so fast. Cash only.

Food was average, but the service was awful. Staff let people skip the line, even someone who tipped them cash, while forgetting about us. Once seated, they rushed everything: drinks, food, even clearing the table. We couldn’t relax or enjoy the meal. Definitely not worth it.

Wish we read reviews first. Came for a drink, was not told until asking for the bill that they are cash only. The wait staff said nothing, no signage, etc. As foreigners who did not have enough US cash this was extremely inconvenient. Their ATM would not accept our debit/credit cards so we had to find a bank and were charged an outrageous transaction fee. They also include their “suggested tip” in the final total making you believe it is not an optional amount to pay. Would not recommend, very disingenuous.

Some of the best pasta and also meatballs in NYC! Staff is very nice and accommodating and the service is excellent. Def recommend going on the earlier side for dinner on a weekday so you don’t have to wait

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The service was terrible and unprofessional. The waiter ignored my table for basic things like bringing bread, was rude throughout, and at the end didn’t even return my change. Instead, he started speaking in Italian in a dismissive way, which felt very disrespectful.

The food was also poor. I ordered the salame panini, but it was thrown together quickly and didn’t resemble the recipe shown on the menu. Overall, both the service and the food were far below expectations
