We stumbled onto the place about two years ago and we come back to Manhattan every six months and it's our go to spot.
I received a different fish than I ordered drenched in sauce. Very disappointed. Don't order fish at Barbaresco
The staff are extremely disagreeable. I left before ordering. First 1 star review of a restaurant.

We hosted friends from Europe who are very well traveled. They loved the food, duck special and seafood special and they were impressed with the quality of the food, the ambiance and the service. The noise level was perfect for conversations. Well done!
Met friends for early dinner. Friendly warm welcome. Menu is good but not big, but, they modified my order as I requested without any problem. The food was very good and everyone enjoyed the meal. Service was professional and flawless. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and the service
Another average Italian restaurant on the UES

Love Barbaresco! Our local for many years. Food, service and atmosphere are always excellent.
I would give this place a 4.5 if I could. I loved the old-fashioned white table clothes and civilized atmosphere. Food and service were both good. The noise level is low enough that you can actually have a conversation without raising your voice! The prices were very reasonable. I would definitely go there again.

Barbaresco is a neighborhood gem - nice ambiance, excellent service, delicious bread and food.
I had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful restaurant on the 4th of July, and I'm so glad I did! I initially assumed the restaurant might be closed for the holiday, so I called around 11:50 a.m. to check. To my surprise, the manager, Johnny, picked up and kindly informed me that they were open. I quickly made a reservation through OpenTable and headed over. From the moment I arrived, the service was warm and attentive. Johnny personally welcomed me and even asked if I'd like to try a special menu item—which I happily agreed to. My server, Tacuri, was equally thoughtful, offering me fresh bread and asking if I'd like cheese on my spaghetti. I declined, wanting to enjoy it the traditional Italian way, and he respected that without hesitation. What made the experience even more special was the engaging conversation I had with Johnny during the meal. He shared some insightful reflections about how New York City has become more inclusive and diverse since 1999. It was both enlightening and uplifting to hear about the progress being made. To end the meal on a sweet note, Tacuri brought out some cookies that were absolutely delicious—a perfect finish to a great meal. The combination of excellent service, friendly conversation, and thoughtful touches made this an experience I'll definitely remember. Big thanks to Johnny and Tacuri for making my holiday so enjoyable. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food and genuine hospitality!
This small, cozy, Italian restaurant is a gem. I eat out 3-4 nights a week in Manhattan at white table cloth restaurants and Barbaresco is one of favorites. Excellent food which varies nightly and includes many sea food items, superb service , elegant Italian Bistro surroundings and good values reside at Barbaresco.
I really appreciate this restaurant. Great Italian food served by a professional staff. Everything is really top notch. I highly recommend
Consistently delicious Italian cuisine accompanied by warm and friendly service. My “go to” for years.
