We chose this restaurant to celebrate Valentine’s Day and unfortunately left very disappointed.
For a special holiday with a prix-fixe menu priced at nearly double the regular cost, we expected attentive and organized service. Instead, the service was extremely slow and disorganized.
It was clear that the waitstaff were struggling to keep up with the pace of a busy evening. Orders were forgotten, dirty dishes remained on our table long after we finished each course, and although coffee or tea were included in the prix-fixe menu, no one asked for our preference. We were even brought the bill before dessert was served, as if our table had been forgotten.
This felt less like an issue with the individuals and more like poor management and staffing decisions. On such an important night, the restaurant should ensure that the team is properly supported and capable of providing the level of service guests are paying for.
Sadly, what was meant to be a romantic celebration ended

Barbetta is a restaurant with an owner who cares and presides with an invitation to details, and a chef who knows how to cook fish.

This was unexpected. The atmosphere was not my style, very old school and a bit formal, but the service and the food were outstanding, and in the end it was special to be inside a bit of NY history from the last century. Highly recommended.

From the food to the atmosphere and most definitely to the service, we loved our experience here! We were dressed for Masquerade so we wanted an upscale location to dine before the show. This was perfect! The staff was so kind and attentive and our food and drinks were outstanding!

Service was very attentive; could not have been better. We went before a show and they offered both the regular menu and the theater menu. The steak was good but the braised beef was just ok. I loved my pasta appetizer. The room is a little weird. We won't be going back.

Dined pre theatre, service was rushed and impersonal. Food was fine. Dining room was beautiful. However, would not dine here again, there are better options.

Our return trip was another exceptional experience. From the attentive staff and service to the quality of ingredients used and the well curated menu selection. Our group of 6 included a few people who grew up with their own Italian family recipes and they were delighted with the menu choices. From soups through to desserts, each dish was thoughtfully prepared and presented. The ambiance added to the enjoyment of this night out. Having visited in each season, spring, summer, winter and fall, you will find something charming and delicious whenever you go.

Thank you providing me an unforgettable birthday last week! Our server was awesome on his service and give us a free small bd cake at the end, I really appreciated that. It is definitely a great place for birthday or private events although the food can be better. I still want to give a five star to the restaurant for the overall experience!

Very nice evening at Barbetta. Such a historic and interesting setting. Food was very good, and the prix fixe menu was perfect. Staff was attentive. Worth a visit.

If I could recommend only one restaurant in all of New York, Barbetta would be it!! An outstanding menu and delightful service in an unmatched setting -- a set of gorgeously preserved Italianate townhouses with a glorious garden you can't quite believe is on West 46th Street. It is always such a special treat to dine at Barbetta, where comforting elegance and incredible food combine to make you feel at once fancy and at ease.

It’s a while ago and I forgot to rate this disappointing experience. The food was mid, almost no service, and at last the staff wrote a 20%tip by himself on the check! I also heard a few people have experienced the same thing and some even double tipped because not noticing the “pre-added tip”…definitely not recommended if you are looking for good food instead of decoration.
