I can't wait to return. My mom and I LOVED EVERYTHING!
The service was amazing, our waitress was so friendly!
The food...I've never tasted sushi tacos. Loved them as well.
Sadly the food was just a little odd. We had oysters and they were really dry and not fresh, we didn't finish them as we were nervous. We also just found that the menu was a little strange, it was very fusion with their popcorn Korean style chicken having cojita cheese, pico and lemon zest. We have no problem with fusion food we just found this one a little odd. When the toppings were taken off the chicken was really good! Is this under new management? As the name was different when we arrived. Servers were nice.
Great experience with the happy hour shrimp cocktail. Also enjoyed the open rolls, very tasty and great variety.
Randomly found this place and wow 👌the food is delicious, service is great! Feeling lucky we ended up here. Big thanks to the amazing restaurant team
I've been coming here for almost 2 years. Have brought countless friends and even held a brunch with coworkers following my wedding in October. Their staff have typically been kind and incredibly accommodating of our severe gluten allergy. On this visit, when we ordered our gluten free items, we were assured all will be good. Then our first item arrived with bread and the sushi rolls were delivered with non-gluten free soy sauce. The bartender took our plates from our waitress and tried to tell us that regular focaccia bread was gluten free and continued to argue with us. The staff then proceeded to point and laugh at us as they “fixed” our order. We waited until the general manager arrived from break and spoke to him. He recognized us as customers that frequent more than just this 1 restaurant of theirs. We were made to feel incredibly uncomfortable by this staff and we won't be returning to Barn Joo Nomad.
We had a confirmed reservation at this restaurant via OpenTable but they cancelled it at the very last minute without giving any reason. We tried reaching out to ask why, but they never responded. The lack of communication and basic courtesy was incredibly disappointing.
This created a huge inconvenience for us, and we were left scrambling to make alternate plans. It’s unacceptable for a restaurant to treat guests this way, especially when reservations are confirmed in advance.
We won’t be booking here again, and we’d caution others to be aware of this risk when making plans.
Honestly I hate giving them a great review because it's such a neighborhood gem and I would like to keep it that way. The trio is fantastic, the chili shrimp is fantastic, the popcorn chicken was fantastic, the cocktails were fantastic, etc was fantastic. Everything is so good, the pricing is very reasonable for NYC. We try and come here every time we are in NYC and I like that I can usually get a reservation for the next day and don't need to book weeks in advance. If more people find and appreciate this gem the reservation will get tougher and that stinks, but it's well deserved.
I will go back here every time I come to New York, the rice bowls satisfy every time.
Love coming here with a small group. The food is always great, service is always awesome
We enjoyed our meal here. The food was delicious and portions were relatively large. The main complaint we had was that the restaurant was so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation.. I had requested a table on the second floor, which seemed like it was probably quieter, but we were seated downstairs, which was definitely louder. Service was also fine. If you're going out for drinks and just looking for a good time, then this is certainly the place, but not if you want to have an actual conversation with people.

The appetizers were OUTSTANDING - gonna dream of that fried tofu for a while. The mains were good but not as memorable. Overall, a nice meal.
Although the food was very good, they took forever to bring it and the restaurant wasn't extremely packed. The waiter was very attentive refilling my water glass. The main dish comes with lots of sides so is kinda cool.
The meal was great, especially enjoyed the Uni open roll, softshell crab and the squid ink pasta.
Overpriced for what it is and the food was average. If you are 2ppl order the dumpling appetizer (3 pieces), you can't add on a 4th (yes, we offered to pay for it). My low rating is not just for that reason. The overall experience is lackluster. Won't be back.
Such a great meal! The Bao buns, chicken wings and sashimi were amazing. We absolutely be back.
