My wife and I had a great time at this midtown Mexican bar. Vast selection of Tequilas and good service and prices!
Food is much better than the service. We live locally and were excited to support this new spot. We sat at our table for 20 minutes before anyone offered us a drink. No big deal; we helped ourselves at the bar. Six people were working, so they definitely weren’t short staffed. We just felt like they didn’t care to give us a nice experience. We finally ordered—chips/salsa, salad, corn, fajitas. The food is very good! But we were at a two top, and they brought everything out at once. Nothing was coursed out, and there was no room on the table for dinner plates. We ate the salad fast to make sure our fajitas would still be hot. When I said that I was taken aback having everything at once with no room for dinner plates, our server’s reply was “Well you ordered everything at once.” I let her know that kitchens across NYC course out apps, it’s normal to order everything at once, and I was disappointed. We didn’t get any water refills, and nobody asked if we wanted a fresh glass of wine. As we finished the salad and corn, nobody cleared the empty bowls, so I walked them over to a clean table close by. Will not be returning. There are many awesome, competing businesses close by who value their patrons.
Load of options for every one. The food is fresh and quality tex-mex fare. The barnachos were a hit with everyone. Service is fast and the staff are very friendly, let you take your time and give good recommendations. It can get a bit noisy in the evening and we ended sitting on a longish table with high chairs, so conversation wasn't easy.
Vegetarian options: Many options for vegetarians since most dishes can sub beans for the protein.
Sooooo tasty!!!! The steak nacho was very flavorful ! The steak quesadilla was great!!! The Barnacho margarita was sooo yummy I had 2!! Looking forward to returning so I can enjoy the rest of the menu!
If you are in NYC and are looking to visit a restaurant that makes one of the best Mexican dishes, then I highly recommend Barnacho. The food that I ordered was very delicious, well cooked, and excellent display.
Upon walking in the restaurant you are hit with a pleasant vibe. We were put in the back of the restaurant where it was so dark I couldn't read the menu. After stealing a candle from a nearby table, we placed our orders, which included chips and salsa. 35 minutes later, I had to ask the manager about our drinks and chips. When they arrived the margarita was subpar and the chips and salsa was so so. We never were asked about refills or heard from our waitress, even after the food was delivered. I sat there without a fork until I flagged a passing server down. The nachos were pretty good and so was the pastor taco, but the guac was premade, cold and flavorless. The Saturday evening service was terrible. It was my first time in my life not leaving a good tip. I suggest only going if you have patience and time.
We came for brunch at 11:45 and we didn't leave until 3 PM...we had 2 rounds of drinks, 1 app and our meals. We were pretty much the only ones there yet it took at least 20 minutes to get anything to our table each time. Our server felt terrible but it wasn't her fault! I'm not sure what was up with the bar and kitchen. Maybe a Friday night is better...but Sunday brunch wasn't it.
You can't go wrong with the pre fixe menu. Both of our appetizers (Caesar salad and roasted brussel sprouts) were really good. The main courses of steak and salmon were also quite tasty with large portions. The wines by the bottle are reasonably priced. We will certainly return.
It’s a mountain of nachos! Food was great, I also had the fish tacos. The margarita flight was strong and flavorful. Service was great. Definitely will come back again.
We started with frozen margaritas, which were dangerously tasteful? The tacos were excellent, I ordered three, but regret I did not order at least five. The chichen fajitas was tasteful and my colleague loved it. The fresh guac was excellent. The service was wonderful all night long.

Good place. We ordered spicy guacamole, so it should be spicy, but it was tasteless, no solty no spicy. But in general everything was ok, other food, drinks and friendly waiters.
I typically only write reviews when a place is exceptional or when a place is really bad. Sadly, it's the latter. I brought my family here to try this place for the first time. It's a block away from me so my hopes were that this would be a great local place to frequent. So what went wrong during my visit? 1: My guacamole seemed like it came out of the fridge, pre-made. It was cold and oxidized. 2: My rice had a soapy taste, like it just came out of the dishwasher (The dish it was mixed in that is or use your imagination). 3: My steak enchiladas were subpar. I expect my steak to taste freshly grilled and sliced for the price they charge. Instead, it tasted on par with Chipotle (Diced and pre-made). So not something I would expect from a restaurant like this. 4: My Cadillac Margarita was poorly made. Sadly the first time I failed to finish my alcoholic beverage. I would have given them the benefit of the doubt had the waitress or a manager asked about my experience so I could help correct things on site, but the staff wasn't interactive so I left it and decided to write this review instead. On a positive note, the restaurant itself has a nice vibe to it. Clean, nice music, well put together. If they can turn the food around, then the potential is there.
Me and my husband had an excellent time at Barnacho! The music was fun and the drinks were strong but good. I had an apperol spritz and my husband got the margarita flight. They were all delicious but the hibiscus was our favorite. The service was incredible. Our food was super yummy too! We started with the guac and chips. I had the Santa Fe salad, good size and very filling. He has the tacos, a chicken, Al pastor and a carne asada. Overall we had a great time and we will definitely be back
Had an amazing experience at Barnacho with some friends for lunch. The waitstaff was super attentive and fast, they definitely took care of us! We started with the nachos and the spicy margaritas are excellent. I had the enchiladas. Delicious! Overall everyone loved their food and the ambience and experience was great. Will definitely be back!! Thanks!
What an amazing place. The jalapeño margarita was the best I ever had, my husband had the golden Cadillac margarita and says it was simply fantastic. Our waiter recommended the chicken nachos and it was heavenly, we then had shrimp fajitas and chicken quesadilla all very good too. The place was much bigger than I expected and it wasn't too busy when wr got there but filled up pretty quickly. I am glad we had the reservation. A couple of highlights: the margaritas for sure!! Do yourself a favor and get one of their fresh margaritas. The service was fast and very friendly! We had a waiter assigned to our table but other team members also checked in on us, the front desk person who I believe is a manager is very hands on and made sure everything was ok with everyone. The music was nice but would love to hear some Latin music. Maybe they play it other times. We will be back!
