Got the Lanzhou Signature and the broth was sooo flavorful, noodle texture was perfectly chewy!! The beef was a lil dry but still really good. Also LOVED the lamb skewers, the seasoning and char was PERFECT!! Will be back to try more dishes!

I eat a lot of lanzhou beef noodles and I was thoroughly underwhelmed with the offering here. It gets some of the fundamentals right - halal & opened by uyghurs, noodle and soup flavor is right, and the price for combo is hard to beat. But some of the other core aspects were so poorly executed - soup is lukewarm when served and the beef slices are so tough that im shocked they considered this fit to sell for money. If you are in the area and are not halal, I would recommend you take your money a few doors down to 1915 instead

The food here is pricey and they have removed their free drinks options which you use to get with your order. Other than that the food is fresh and they give alright portions. They also don’t have a student discount compared to their neighboring stores.

Edit: The management responded to me the same day and gave me a refund. Like I said, I've had a better experience in the past so I would still give this place a chance if you are in the area.

I went there today and it was a little busy. I ordered the beef noodle combo but it was taking a bit too long so I asked for it to go. I waited even longer and finally got my order. I went home after a long day and there was no noodles. There was just broth, vegetable, and one piece of beef. I was very disappointed. I've been here before so I'm guessing it was just a fluke because they were so busy but I expected better quality control. I guess just give it a check if your doing takeout.

I absolutely loved my experience here! Not only is all of their food 100% halal, but the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, which made the visit even better. I came with a group of friends, and we ordered a mix of dishes — from the veggie options and vegetable dumplings to the chicken skewers and braised beef noodles.
Everything was delicious, and the portions were generous — you definitely get great value for your money. I even saved the location on Google Maps so I can come back again soon. The food was fantastic, and I’d highly recommend checking this place out!

If you’re looking for a bowl that tells a story, Beef Up Noodle is where tradition meets flavor in the heart of NYC.

Run by Hui Muslim chefs from Lanzhou, the restaurant carries deep cultural and culinary roots. Their head chef is a descendant of Ma Baozi, the chef who first standardized the world-famous Lanzhou beef noodle soup a dish made with heart, history, and purpose. Every bowl here honors that heritage, serving as a bridge between generations and cultures.

What makes Beef Up Noodle stand out is its authenticity and dedication to tradition. According to the team, they’re one of the few and possibly the only halal Lanzhou lamian (hand-pulled noodle) restaurant in New York City. Staying true to the dish’s halal roots allows them to serve customers a genuine taste of back home while maintaining the art of noodle-making by hand.

The Lanzhou beef noodle soup here is unmatched the broth is rich and aromatic, the hand-pulled noodles perfectly chewy, and the beef tender enough to melt in your mouth. Their Uyghur chicken noodles bring bold spice and warmth, while the crispy dumplings add that perfect golden crunch.

Each dish feels crafted with intention, rooted in culture, and filled with flavor. Whether you’re craving authentic halal noodles, exploring Chinese Muslim cuisine, or just hunting for one of the best noodle soups in New York City, Beef Up Noodle deserves to be at the top of your list.

Ambiance (4/5): Clean, welcoming, and brightly lit establishment. No frills decorations/table setting. The establishment is mostly empty with about 2-3 parties max during our weeknight dining. The dining area looks into an open kitchen to see the chefs prepare.
Service (N/A): Use a kiosk to order. The food was prepared lightning fast! Self clean up afterwards by bringing the plates back.
The newsletters posted on the front state that the owners of a different establishment received a NYT shoutout and this establishment uses the same recipes. Honestly was a little surprised by this accolade as I was letdown from the taste. They were no longer serving the Uyghur Lagman. There was table spices available to use (soy sauce, chili oil). Halal prepared.
Spicy Wontons (5/5): I really enjoyed the wontons and the creaminess of the sauce from the peanut butter. It had a hint of lamb taste.
Braised beef Noodles & House Braised Beef Rice Noodles (3/5): Both noodle soup dishes were similar in broth taste but one was spicier, however still very umami. There were few toppings inside but it’s hard to beat a $14 priced dish. The beef was not very tender and generally just lower quality than what I was hoping for. I was also hoping for bouncy noodles as personal preference.
