I love this place and their tasty and inventive rolls. I’m happy the server mentioned the off-menu nigiri sampler platter because it was so fun to taste a range of options.
Everything we tried was great
A wonderful menu that is 100% vegan. Everything I have tried is fresh and delicious!! I always stop here in any NYC visit and it’s consistently wonderful! Today I had the Nutty Buddy Wrap. So refreshing and good!
Everything I have tried is good, and the nigiri 🍣 is nothing short of miraculous. I loved sashimi (raw fish) before I was vegan, and this comes amazingly close in taste and texture.
Not worth going to. The food is just okay. The service is also okay, leaning toward not so good. I dont understand the low quality. It was unexpected coming from City Roots Hospitality Updated from previous review on 2025-05-28
The lunch special including 2 rolls was a pretty good deal. We thought the Philadelphia roll had too much cream cheese but maybe we just don’t like cream cheese in our sushi.
We had Ramen, Dumplings and a Wrap. The Ramen Broth was rich in flavour and the toppings were also good. The portion size was perfect. The Dumplings were Ok in taste. I had better ones but great sauce. Same for the wrap, without sauce it tasted a little bit boring but still ok. The size of the menu was good. Everybody should be able to find something. I would come back but will try other spots first. I was with my parents and did’nt tell them, that it is fully vegan. It’s not obvious on the Menu that it’s a vegan restaurant so my parents did’nt realised it until I told them. I liked that a lot!
It was just ok. The sushi was a bit dry, the cream cheese had an odd flavor, the dumplings were a little too sweet and too salty, and the saki menu could be improved. The wait staff was very friendly. I remember enjoying one of their other locations more
We had a lovely experience at Beyond Sushi Midtown! We went on a Saturday night around 7pm and the service was quick and the food delicious. We tried the Shiitake Truffle Dumplings, Sweet Tree Roll and Grilled Chicken Bao. Everything was delicious! I also had the Lychee and Honeydew drink which was really good especially with some of the spicier dishes. I do agree with the other reviews that mentions price... dishes are priced a little high but it is NYC and I found the variety of flavors, atmosphere and service to be worth it.
Não é um restaurante barato, aqui na APP aparece como opção em conta mas não está de todo correto. Vale pela experiência e a comida tem qualidade, o cheesecake roxo deles é excelente e o "ovo" é muito realista 😻 recomendo

Overall - a good experience. It was nice inside, a little cramped. Tried 4 things - the crab rangoon (amazing), salmon avocado maki roll (good), oolong lemon apple soda (amazing), and the tuna nigiri (amazing). All the flavors were really well balanced and nothing was overpowering in any one direction - salty, sweet, acidic, etc. A little overpriced, but what you would expect from NYC. Definitely worth a try once while you’re in the city!
Everything was amazing. We got: Charred Avocado Roll Spicy Mango Roll Chicken Bao Ube Cheesecake Pandan Mousse Cake When I said, “This chicken is so good, I wonder what it’s made of?” my son said, “Oh, I forgot it wasn’t chicken!”
checking their menu online i formed a wrong impression of this place - a 28$ ramen! a $9 miso soup! this must be a fancy-ish place, i thought. it's really not! which would be good - at the current margins i'd want there to be more simple vegan places than fancy ones, but this one is not priced for what it is - at least as far the items we tried are concerned. the food we tried was not impressive at all, especially, again, for the prices. i'd only come back in a pinch and stick with rolls for take out. The sushi was pretty good, but the ramen was the star. We took the lunch menu, which was great price wise and this was the best ramen I’ve had in town so far. Everything about it- it was gorgeous, delicious, the textures were there… so much yes. Food alone is 5🌟s!! The cons: our server did seem irritable at first or maybe defensive, letting us know that everything here is vegan (which seemed to imply in tone: so we can go if we have a problem with that). I’m vegan and my sister is not, but we came happy to try and this was deterring to her. I understand people have bad days, but I saw in another review as well that letting people know upfront also turned them away. I wonder what the purpose of this is, as another restaurant we went to also disclosed that they were 100% vegan before we ordered. It is on the menu, but I think we can just let people try or let them ask if they have questions. After all, seafood or steak house restaurants don’t disclose before ordering that all of their food are murdered animals. It seems like it promotes veganism as a taboo somehow; something to be disclosed is incase people are not okay with that. 🤔 I imagine maybe some people get upset after eating and learning that it’s all vegan, but that’s part of their individual process and I don’t think we need to change our behavior or environment to accommodate people’s prejudices. I want so badly to give 5⭐️, but I want to know why the restaurant enforces this and if they will change that. #Veganuary
