Seven years ago, I used to work in Manhattan and would go to this beyond sushi pretty regularly. (I think it was the original location before they expanded) I was back in town for a night and I had to go! All the food was great, and the service was professional and well done. Keep up the good work.! Updated from previous review on 2025-05-15
Great ramen. Perfect location
Delicious vegan sushi. Truly. We ordered a spicy tuna, a charred avocado and the crab rangoons. That was enough for two of us. The crab rangoons blew us away!!! That’s a must if you come. Spicy tuna is a classic. Would try many more things on the menu! Didn’t love the lighting / vibe. It’s in herald square which is just a terrible place to begin with, and so I’d say avoid inviting that in as much as possible but they have floor to ceiling windows. Ugh. You’re already eating “cold” food, it would be nice to have a cozy, tucked away experience from the chaos of midtown. They could do better with their interiors. (as a big fan of Guy’s restaurants)
The sushi and mains were brilliant, but the desserts were even more heavenly, I can't recommend this place enough
I just tried this place and can’t wait to try all the rolls! This time I tried the sweet tree roll and spicy salmon roll—SO good!
Ordered take out of beyond sushi and honestly it was pretty good. Tried the mango roll, charred avocado roll, rainbow roll, and crab rangoons. I was kind of surprised they only had a limited number of rolls to choose from, was hoping for more. And didn't love that they relayed heavily on "mock meats" in their rolls rather than celebrating plants, but maybe that's what they are going for. As a vegan I wasn't as impressed, but maybe they are trying to capture more omnis. Overall, it was solid, but wasn't too awed by their options for the price.
tried lots of different things shared among a big group and really liked it! the portion sizes are a bit small for the price, but not unusual for sushi this location is a lot bigger and nicer than the other one
What a treat for sushi lovers! Enjoyed a delicious rainbow sushi when we visited and dumplings! All the options on the menu sound incredible and have fun variety. It is wonderful to try something new and enjoy the tastes that build the dish. Next time we are back, we would love to return and try some other sushi’s, like the salmon avocado!
Comida japonesa con texturas y sabores increíbles.
I feel like I have had better Asian food, but this was still very good and would go back!

Service was quick and friendly when I went. Tasty sushi roll, ube latte, and matcha strawberry dessert.
First, I could not believe that everything on the menu is really vegan. But it is. And - wow - the food creations are excellent!
Love beyond sushi! Recommend the shoyu ramen, tuna nigiri, and mushroom sushi. But hard to make a bad choice.
Awesome sushi, appetizers, atmosphere and service. Must try if you are in the area! Chikn bao is a must. Updated from previous review on 2021-12-12
We finally made our first trip here since the menu revamp, and it fully lived up to our expectations. We are regulars at the 56th St location which is the smaller more casual one that focuses on their classics that they’ve been perfecting for decades. The 37th St location still has the classic veggie sushi rolls as well as other adventurous, innovative dishes that will impress your vegan and meat eating friends alike. We started with the special, a tuna hand roll. Incredible. Loved the black caviar and fresh shiso. Definitely hope they get some hand rolls on the regular menu. Next we had the smoked mushroom salad which was loaded with flavor (and mushrooms); we appreciated the generous size. Then we had some of their standby rolls, the sweet tree roll (with sweet potatoes and alfalfa sprouts - so funky and fun), the spicy mang roll (a classic among classics, and impossible to get tired of), and the rainbow roll (loaded with veggies and topped with their incredible salmon). Hard to say which is the best (just get them all). Then we ventured into the new entrees featuring Chunk steak and went with the black pepper steak accompanied by Japanese yams and bok choy. This was my first time trying Chunk steak. It’s delicious and was so well seasoned. The veggies that accompanied it also had me yammering for more. We closed out the meal with the strawberry matcha tart which was delightful. I used to have a bit of an addiction to Planta Queen, but Beyond Sushi has now pulled solidly ahead with these new menu items that bring the ooh and ahh factor while managing to be a little on the healthier/cleaner side. Greatly appreciated, and cannot wait to see what Beyond Sushi comes up with next. Updated from previous review on 2025-02-16
