We were in the city for 3 nights. I made reservations for the second and third nights. Left night one open. I found Saar online, it was less than a block from our hotel so we figured we'd give them a try. So glad we did. Nice place. Great, friendly service (Karim is the man!), and excellent food. I ended up cancelling the reservations I made for night 3 and we went back to Saar. Give them a try if you like Indian food. It was amazing!

Overall this place is great. To get any negatives out of the way, the abrasive glow from the theater across the street took me out of it a little bit. Also the mocktails we got were overly sweet and lacked flavor. However the food was yummy - we had the samosa sampler, fried paneer (pretty okay not the best), and butter chicken with naan and rice. The butter chicken stole the show for sure. The staff was friendly and attentive and service was fairly quick for a Saturday evening. If you need something near Times Square that's not insanely overpriced for the value, try Saar!!!

The food is not particularly inventive, but it is classic down the middle Indian. Solid choice for pre-theater dining because service is time efficient and friendly. The food was a little oversalted but not so much to cause a major problem. The chef should just tone down the salt a little. Prices are very fair and the atmosphere is nice and clean. I would go back for sure.

Our party arrived later than expected and were seated promptly. Open Table menu for Saar's Indian offered a $35. 2 course menu with glass of wine. We were told by waiter this is old menu & no longer exists, even though it is still posted. Happy Hour drinks were only sold at bar, which is absurd, especially when that carrot is dangled to bring customers into restaurant. Our table of five ordered 7 drinks in total and all 5 of us believed there was no alcohol in any drink. We are all seniors, one drink each and our moods are elevated. Not one of us( even the 2 who had 2) felt anything. We called foul on this. Food was delicious and presented beautifully by a lovely, engaging, knowledgeable waiter. Warning: Some dishes might be too spicy for some. Bathrooms need deodorizing and toilet on left had broken lock on door.

We loved Saar. The food and service were great and they had fun cocktails and mocktails. Everybody was really friendly and we had a great dinner. It's close to Times Square so we did some people watching after dinner.

The food was very good. There are a lot of choices on the menu. The service was also pretty good. They were very attentive to our needs. All of the food came out quickly and was delicious.

Fantastic lunch before seeing a play at the Belasco theater nearby. Great service and food and the room is quite pleasant. Would go back, especially before a show in the theater district.

This has become our go to restaurant when in NY for a show. The people are so nice and attentive. Even at the reservation stage they actually communicate with you. Oh and the food! It is by far the best Indian food I have had and I have had plenty. Nothing disappoints but the Biriyani and Chicken Korma are my favorite. I think the plain naan is better than the garlic, but my husband liked the garlic naan more - so basically you can't go wrong. It is a great place and 10 minute walk from the Marriott Marquis and across the street from the Winter Garden Theatre. Overall I would rate the people and service 5+ - attentive but not annoying!

Authentic Indian food. Very tasty. And heavenly desserts. Great to meet friends and family for lunch and dinner. Awesome staff, and if you go there for dinner you can sometimes get to meet the head chef too. Amazing person he is.

The meals was really good. Service was excellent, was hoping for a little bit spicier/hot food but I understand they have to cater to everyone hence it was a bit on the sweeter side. Amazing drinks- Powerhouse was great with that smoke flavour.

Again a most fantastic dinner had at Saar before the theater. Always a beautiful experience, the food is delish and we were celebrated so lovingly for Valentines Day with roses, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries! Thank you Saar we will see you again soon.

Overall, it is a good Indian restaurant. The meals are carefully prepared and tasty but not spectacular. The Chicken Korma was excellent, but the dessert was not good. I don't recall the name; it had ice cream as the basis and was over-frozen when it arrived at our table. In summary, I have mixed feelings about the restaurant, but in general, it is more than OK.

Our first time here won't be our last! Food and customer service were the best. We would continue to go early in the evening, however; by 6:30 or so it got too loud for us. Was no longer conducive to conversation without shouting.

Saar is a great place for pre-theater dining, fixed price menu has great choices, prawns appetizer was worth fighting over, entres were equally good and the warm lentil moong dal desert delightfully delicious.

Too expensive for the quality of food and the service. When I say I was allergic to cilantro they brought me a cilantro sauce instead of the mint sauce I asked. Mango lassi was served in glass full of dust and I had an allergic reaction
