Fun atmosphere with nice people that provided great service. Plus the awesome creative milkshakes!

The place is known for their crazy shakes which are sweet & delish, but what made me love this place is the bartender, Eli! The night we came in, we sat at the bar & Eli's customer service was top notch! He took care of all his customers, chatted with us & kept the vibe very chill & fun.

The lousy service at this popular burger and shake joint in Midtown Manhattan pretty much cancels out their tasty food and above-average tap list, which alone aren't enough to warrant a recommendation. On a recent weeknight visit, we waited more than 15 minutes for a server to come by our table, and had to flag him down more than a few times throughout the evening. He didn't seem to remotely know what was on the cocktail or wine menu, and brought out the wrong drinks on our first round. For a restaurant with the word 'Tap' in its name, that's ... not good. The burgers here are solid, but nothing you couldn't find at your local Shake Shack for half the price. My son was very disappointed with his Nashville Hot Wings, and the Burger Salad my wife ordered was just bizarre. And while my kids enjoyed their Cookies & Cream Milkshake, we were all ready to get out of Black Tap by the time it arrived. Then we had to wait another 10 minutes for the check. Overall, a big disappointment that I wouldn't subject myself to again.

Food was great, service not so much. I had been wanting to try their famous shakes for a while, and without a reservation, we were able to get seated right away (came at ~4:45pm on a Friday before NYE). The shake was a generous portion that could be split with two people, and to my surprise, I think the Champagne Strawberry Cakeshake actually had champagne in it! Loved all the fun elements of this dessert. Definitely decadent but a must-try if you are here. Burger was also delicious, with a generous side of fries or salad. Service was subpar. We did not get water when we were seated, and after asking for it, got the pitcher but no cups. Then when the food came, we had to ask for utensils. Pretty standard etiquette that was missing. I also thought the smell of the restaurant was off (?) The mop they used left a strange smell, and the bathroom was dirty. The utensils also came with sticky handles. I do question the cleanliness of this place...but maybe ignorance is bliss since the food was good.

This place was great for shake. What caught my eye the most was their shake called "Bam Bam". I ordered Bam Bam shake, CAESAR SALAD and Wagyu burger. The service was quick. Food was good I enjoyed their burger, fries, salad and shake. The shake's portion was quite big and enough for 2 people to share. Overall a good place for brunch or a date night.

So I visited the location in midtown to meet up with my homegirl who was here for a day trip. We sat at the bar and had drinks and chicken sandwiches with the works . Eli was awesome made my margarita with perfection. Her drink was adored as well . I would recommend you get there before it packs up . The staffs energy was very vibrant and relatable they knew a lot about the drinks and milkshakes. Definitely would recommend you try this place out and ask for Eli he makes some good drinks and delectables.

After an event across the street, I came to Black Tap for some lunch. There were not too many vegetarian choices but they did have a vegan Falafel burger! It came relatively quickly and I was a little nervous to try it because I've never tried anything like it before. I was pleasantly surprised when I took my first bite - it was refreshing, minty, and so flavorful!! It was probably one of the best burgers I've ever had - the fries were generously portioned too. I finished the burger and was so full, it's a big portion size and reasonably priced as so. Overall I don't think I would come back because of the amount of choices I have but I did enjoy the vegan falafel burger. Highly highly recommend!! Aside from that, my friends ordered milkshakes and they were huge. They also ordered the same vegan falafel burger but paired with the amount of milkshake it might be helpful to share that drink portion or take to go!

This is a MUST DO experience if you have kids! This is not a ‘high end’ restaurant - it’s a milkshake and burger place that is just super fun. Milkshakes were fantastic - just the right size to be able to (almost finish) and also eat the meal. We got burgers and they were cooked perfectly with great toppings. I actually found the prices very reasonable compared to similar places and the fact we are in NYC! One other thing I loved is that the meal came FIRST and our server waited until kids were halfway done to bring the milkshakes - GENIUS! Servers were so chill and speedy. The wait was about an hour in a Monday night (Christmas week so busy) but totally worth it after a day walking around the city/

This place had very popular propaganda for their shales. Actually the look very beautiful but NOT that tasty. I ordered the chocolate brownie , the brownie is good but the supposed chocolate milksha, really no flavor. The all American burger, the burger is good. Bread and all the rest unnecessary and simple This place is definitely over prices and not that great quality. I had a better food and shake for cheaper at Shake Shack

The wait on this Friday was half an hour long. Don't be an idiot and just wait behind the existing line if you want to eat at Black Tap. Go directly to the waiters/waitresses and give them your phone number so that when it's your turn, they will call you. An old couple sat next to us the same time we sat down. We ordered similar things and had the same waiter. The waiter made us felt so comfortable and was able to take care of all of us together at the same time. The total mealtime took about 40 mins. The atmosphere was a friendly environment, lots of kids and families. It reminded me of Danny's (now permanently closed) on East 18th Street. This place's burgers are proclaimed award winning so it's a must try. Though vegan/vegetarian options are limited, as I could only order a falafel veggie burger (tastes good, no complains), and I opted for a salad instead of fries. The milkshake looked/tasted good. They have a supreme one that costs $20.00 if you're up for a challenge. Overall a good place for a date night. This is the Rockefeller Center location where the Christmas Tree is. Somewhat tourist territory so expect the price of a burger to be $20 and average a meal of two to be around $70

I been to the one in Anaheim and I loved it so I decided to give the one in NY a try. It's seat yourself and you order on your phone. You don't have a waiter or anything, you order and pay on your phone then they bring the food to you which is convenient. Convenient if you're with a group of people, you don't have to worry about splitting the check or anything because everyone can pay on their phone separately. Food was good got a burger, lemonade, and fries and came out to a little over $20. The Korean sauce is so good! The fries are so crispy and hot! The milkshake is so good and enough for 2 people to share. The food comes out quick and the tables are constantly being cleaned. The reason for the 4/5 - if you want water you get if yourself. There's a pitcher and cups near the bar/front door. I don't like that idea because the pitcher is just open, anyone can put something in it or things can fall in the water. Anytime you need more water you have to walk all the way to the front to get it yourself - since there's no waiters really there's no one to really help you. You just have to waive them down if you need something - seat yourself is nice but when it gets crowded people will sit so close to you just to have a seat even if it's cramped

What a fun experience!! Brought the kids here for ice cream and it didn't disappoint! Lots of special milk shakes to choose from. Service was really friendly and has a very fun vibe overall. Ambiance is casual cool with an edge. The milkshakes were awesome! Big portions so easy to share. Loved it!

Great place for a nice burger. If you like shakes they have a good offering that look delicious. Unfortunately my Greg Norman wagyu burger didn't leave room for dessert.

READ YOUR CHECK! They add 18% gratuity on the check and don’t tell you, but at the bottom of the check they “suggest “ 18% 20% and 25% gratuity and give you a total that is added on the the total that already had gratuity; also known as Double Tipping. Not cool. Also, fried pickles: lack flavor and burgers were ok at best. Don’t bother going. I really wanted this to be a great place, it wasn’t.

This place is alright. Overrated but good. I had a really tasty BBQ burger. The service was great and the food was yummy but for the price? Eh. Okay. Maybe. The line for this place gets CRAZY. Why? Because tourists go a little out of their mind when they see a video go 'viral' on FB. But it's (saying it louder for the people in the back) overrated. My office was right across the street so on a rainy, cold day, I was able to slip in without a line. I don't think it would have been worth it if I'd had to wait.
