Amid the buzz of NoMad, Slate Cafe feels like a breath of calm. The interiors are thoughtfully designed neutral tones, subtle textures, and that perfect window light that makes your coffee moment feel a little more cinematic.
The baristas know their craft without the attitude, and each cup reflects that care especially the flat white, which somehow always lands just right. Their bites are seasonal and intentional, but it’s the vibe that lingers with you: easygoing, grown-up, and refreshingly distraction-free.
Slate isn’t trying to be everything. It’s just quietly, confidently good. And in a city that never stops, that stillness is rare and worth returning to.

Slate Coffee is a hidden gem in the heart of New York City. We stopped by for a quick break and ended up staying longer than expected simply because of how cozy and calming the space felt. The coffee was excellent — smooth, rich, and clearly made with care. You can tell they take their craft seriously.
One of the highlights was the view. Whether you're sitting by the window or outside, it's the kind of place where you can just pause, breathe, and enjoy the moment — something rare in such a fast-moving city.
Although we didn’t get a chance to try the food, the dishes being served around us looked absolutely delicious and well-presented. We’re definitely planning to come back to try them next time.

Great food and very attentive service. I came in to work because an online round-up mentioned it was a good coffee shop to WFH from, but the atmosphere on a hot summer day was atrocious. The air conditioning doesn't seem to work, and I spent $14 on an egg scramble just to run away from the heat 25 minutes later to find some new place to park for the day. Something to keep in mind!

This is my absolute must stop anytime I'm in New York (or any time someone I know is there and willing to swing in and get my coffee vice in bagged bean form.
One of those places that built a great reputation then started getting cheap and serving bs. The chicken on the kale salad tasted days old and was gritty

My husband and I found this restaurant on our last morning in New York, it came highly recommended and it not disappoint even with my husband’s dietary restrictions. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was quick and efficient. The servers were kind and welcoming.

Best chai latte! Amazing pesto chicken salad as well.
Great food, drinks, all in a decent price range! I was surprised to get a matcha latte with oatmilk for under $8! We ordered breakfast sandwiches, avocado toast, and smoked salmon bagel as well - all was delicious and made with quality ingredients. I returned every morning during my stay in NYC to get a matcha latte too. Staff were friendly as well. Highly recommend!
