Great food
Portion sizes vary depending on what you order
Was pretty misguided by my waiter and completely over ordered so make sure you double check on sizing
The salad for example is always massive .. like a 4 person salad

Lives up to its reputation as one of the best new restaurants in the city! Appetizers were awesome, pasta was perfectly al dente, nice desserts. Flavor combinations were beautifully done. We loved the backyard patio! Perfect for my mom’s birthday. Thank you!

We were visiting our son in NYC for a few days and managed to get a late dinner reservation at Borgo. It was superb - one of the highlights of our trip. The food was perfectly prepared, the wine was outstanding and the service was fantastic.

A Fantastic Experience All Around
We had a wonderful experience — the food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. The space is open and well laid out, so even on a busy Saturday night, it didn’t feel overly crowded. The energy in the room was vibrant without being overwhelming.

The focaccia was a standout — while it leans more toward a flatbread in appearance, we absolutely loved it. It’s clearly a regional style, and worth trying with an open mind despite some of the confusion noted in other reviews.

Our mains were equally impressive. The veal and chicken dishes were both beautifully prepared, and the ravioli was rich and satisfying. I also really enjoyed the house martini — well-balanced and thoughtfully made.

Overall, a great spot we must return to.

Borgo is a fairly simply adorned space. The artwork is cool but unobtrusive. The linens are nicely starched & ironed. The servers are casual in attire yet professional in delivery.

I would classify this place as simple, rustic, unpretentious Italian cooking. We had the fava bean purees, ravioli with pesto, veal satimbacca & broccoli rabe. We enjoyed all the dishes. The fava dish was somewhat less inspiring (although everyone says to order it). But the veal was divine. Cooked & sauced to perfection.

We received excellent direction from the sommelier, Matthew. He knew his stuff and guided us to a mineral forward Italian white.

We had a very pleasant evening here. We chatted briefly with the manager and she exuded the comfort & charm of the room. Nothing fancy, just honest cooking.

We were really looking forward to our dinner at Borgo, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation time, and even then had to remind the staff to bring menus. The noise level was overwhelming—so loud it made it nearly impossible to hold a conversation. Sadly, it took away from what we hoped would be a special evening.

It’s rare to walk out of a restaurant and say, that was a 10/10 meal—but this was one of them.

Every detail, from the ambience to the service to the food, felt beautifully considered. The staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely knowledgeable. Highly recommend the Grilled Peaches, Summer Lettuces, and Casarecce—but the Fennel Sausage was truly next level. And don’t skip the Summer Berry Pudding to finish—perfection!!!!

The first and most important thing you need to know about Borgo, aside from any other aspect of the experience, is that it is profoundly, ear-splittingly, headache-inducingly loud in the restaurant. Not merely “oh the sound levels are a bit elevated in a NYC kind of way” loud, but deafeningly noisy. The kind of loud that makes conversation nearly impossible and prevents the waitstaff from hearing your order without having to lower their ear to the seated customer's level.

I suspect that this has to do with the domed ceilings in both the dining areas, which although pretty, amplify and direct the intensely piercing room noise downward toward the diners. When I say it is shatteringly loud in here, I am not being hyperbolic. You absolutely need to be aware of this going in, since normal conversation during weekend dinner service is not a realistic expectation at Borgo unfortunately. If you enjoy raucous and believe that shouting is an acceptable way to have to communicate over dinner, then you might not mind this place. For the rest of us though, I’m going to respectfully suggest that this isn’t the expectation most have in mind when going out for an elevated dining experience.

Could the vibe and sound levels be different on a weekday lunch? I wouldn’t chance it personally. Even my 3 college-aged kids were taken aback by the extreme level of noise, one of them calling it “seriously off-putting”. Anyway, be forewarned. This is an objectively cacophonous restaurant. Which is too bad really because most other aspects of the meal were good, outside of the fact that we weren’t seated until 20 minutes after our booked reservation time.

My new favorite Italian place in NYC. Have eaten here 6 times and the food is always spectacular - fresh, simple, classic, made on site - and the service is warm and welcoming. Has a very cool interior courtyard space and is easy to access without a rez if you come at 5pm and sit at the bar. Do NOT miss this place; truly special.

Decided to try this place as a walk in since it is obvious they hold back reservations to appear packed. We live near by and the restaurant is often littered with empty tables when they are supposedly booked solid.

As a walk in, we scored a seat at a table by the bar and we were told they will seat us in an hour. We order two drinks, a wine and a cocktail. The wine for $20 a glass was maybe an 1/8 cup of wine or two sips. The cocktail was a cool color but overly sweet and unbalanced. Cocktail menu was a list of oddities involving combinations that were hard to understand-staff was little help in navigating.

I saw some folks get food at the bar. One women got a pasta dish that looked like a 1/2 portion -but we know that it was probably $40 dollars -and she asked for bread due to the lack of food -and they gave her one piece of bread on a butter plate. It looked like the height of skimpiness.

So we sat there about 30 minutes. What I saw was a whole bunch of walk ins expecting tables. Can you blame them? There were a lot of open tables and a full open back garden area. The staff put everyone on the wait list and then dolled out tables randomly - not first come, first serve. We watched three random walk ins get seats to eat before us and then we left.

I think if we stayed we would have gotten sat in about 30 minutes but if the drinks are not good and the food looks like mediocre high priced, small portion Italian, what’s the point.

There are ten great Italian restaurants in this neighborhood all serving great food at good prices. These place are willing to seat you when they have a plethora of open tables. Don’t let Borgo’s artificial scarcity fool you. The illusion of rarity or perceived value due to limited availability is all just a bad marketing ploy and sadly it won’t make the food, drinks or experience any better.

Food is top notch however the service is awful not sure if where to place the blame, the maitre d’, the manager or just the bar it self but if your gonna advertise that your open till 11 then I expect proper service till 11 and most definitely should not have to ask for water to be refilled when I’m the only guest at the bar next to two managers, not once did either bartender engage try to start a conversation or do anything to make me feel welcomed. They were more focused on closing everything down than anything that had to do with service itself, when I asked about the cocktails the bartender just repeated what I told him and provided no context when I asked him later about the cheese in the asparagus salad he said “I think it’s fontina” like what do you mean you think? He seemed oblivious to the menu it self when they cleared the first dish they took away the silverware didn’t replace it so I ended up scooping the pesto for the arancini with a lemon wedge and then even after asking for a second lemon wedge the bartender still didn’t notice or offer new silverware, marked for rissoto after rissoto dropped, offered another drink after I was half way through rissoto, even though glass was empty for a long time it was just overall embarrassing to make matters worse the manger was eating in the corner the whole time eating and never acknowledged anything the only saving grace was that the second bartender seemed to engage a little more at the end of service and the food was great but this definitely not worth the $160 i paid for 3 dishes one dessert and one cocktail

We thought the food was excellent. Perfect portions, we tried 5 different dishes between 2 of us with desert. Excellent taste and elegant but simple. Great vibe, we sat at the bar. It gets busy. Definitely going back.
