This place is an institution on the Upper East Side and always a great time. We went when there was Elijah Caldwell on the piano and he was amazing - can’t recommend enough going back when he’s on the mic and keys.

My friend asked me to join her for a drink at Brandy’s since we had so much fun there before. After taking a $30 cab ride, I found her having a drink at the bar, with only 5 other patrons in the bar. I ordered my usual Tito’s and soda. The bartender asked me for my ID. At first I thought he was kidding. I am 57! Upon realizing he was serious, I proceeded to pull it up on my phone. He said he needed the physical ID. I explained I did not have it on me, as this was an impromptu meeting. He refused my digital ID and refused service. So we left and went to Trinity’s next door…which was a blast btw and I highly recommend!

I understand the bartender was only doing what he was told to do by the owners. So this is for them: policy should not outweigh common sense! Had I been in my 20’s or remotely close to looking underage, I would understand. But to piss off fellow lgbtq patrons and send them to your competitors next door to spend their money is moronic. It’s a shame to cross Brandy’s off our list, especially during Pride month, but when a business does not value its customers there is no choice. Shame.

A hidden gem of a place. Fun little bar with a really cosy atmosphere. With a mix of regulars, locals and tourists. The piano player was super talented, and could sing and play just about anything. The server behind the bar was friendly, and was singing in-between serving, she had a great voice and a good chemistry with the pianists. Would definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the neighbourhood. 🍻🎤🎹

Seriously, wow. Such a great joint! We didn’t even come during the piano stuff! Lucas the bartender unknowingly inspired the effort it took to craft this review.

I came here after dinner with friends. Everyone was seated and nobody was greated so I used the restroom. When I left I didn’t think that there was table service, so I ordered from the bar. I was met by a super kind bartender and a disgruntled server that exclaimed “WE HAVE TABLE SERVICE”. After apologizing for not knowing that was the situation I was met with a “OK SO WHAT DO YOU WANT”. Once I sat down at my table of 8 people, the server came to take drinks. She approached a friend of mine that is sober, and exclaimed “this is an establishment with no cover and no minimum” when they ordered a soda water. Everyone else proceeded to order drinks, but this made both me and my sober friend extremely uncomfortable. Sure, the music was so fun and the atmosphere without this server seemed kind and welcoming. This was an uncomfortable and ignorant situation perpetuated by a server that I’m sure works their butt off, but baby you’re not entitled to tips.

I’ll never come again. If you choose to come, be aware that an insufferable tip shark will demand money for a basic task.

Had a great time at Brandy’s. Tightly packed bar when music is playing. This adds so much to the ambience and vibe. All the classic songs were played. Definitely plan on returning.

Coolest place ever!!!! Came here on a quick weekend trip to the city with a friend based on a recommendation and it. did. not. disappoint. The bartender was super friendly and lovely to chat with; he helped us figure out what to order since we were new to the alcohol scene! Once the music started, things got really crowded but in the best way possible! The energy was high, piano player was a stud, and I didn’t want to leave. Drinks were a little pricey and I definitely recommend getting their early if you want a seat but I couldn’t think of a more fun way to spend a Friday night.

This might just be my favorite bar in New York City! The music is amazing and the vibes are incredible. It’s got a dive like and welcoming feel. This bar is always very crowded. You likely will not get a table unless you’re there before 9, but you might be able to snag a bar seat at later times. Don’t let the crowdedness deter you though - it is part of its charm! This bar is always a great time!!

This is one the reasons I’d consider moving to NYC. Brandys is a spot where you can be social and be inspired - and it’s a great hangout for singers - I love the moments where someone quiets the crowd and the place feels super intimate for the moment. The staff are talented and personable, and the piano players are superb
