The best not only in Harlem but in NYC. Try it once and you'll see it for yourself. Highest quality pastries that are imported raw from France , and baked daily on a small batches, simple but yet sophisticated sandwiches and of course a Carlos's espresso is to die for .

Caféine, more like Crapéine. The pastries at this place oddly look like the ones Whole Foods throws out after not selling for the day. Nice try with the appearance of them being made in house, but let's be real... , from the owner's appearance, he's surely not doing anything that requires effort. I'm gonna go with another shitty coffee place in the most obvious area. Come on people, be creative. The best part about this place is the art in the front, which you should check out on your way out. Once you've begun to rethink your decision about even entering this lowbrow s*** hole.

Lovely little spot in Morningside Heights for a quick coffee. The service is great, and the coffee is delicious. This has quickly become my regular spot -- it's not often busy and I like to sit and sip on the weekends.

The owner is really nice & super professional/on top of things. I stayed in the area for a week in an Air bnb and was very sleep deprived and grumpy--it was great to have excellent coffee nearby and a kind welcome every morning!! Today was my last day in the neighborhood, but I hope to come back whenever I'm in the area. Great coffee, cozy interior, delicious food :)

Love Cafeine! The baristas are always super friendly, their latte art is on point, and the coffee is delicious. It's probably not the best spot for working given how tiny it is, but it's perfect for grabbing a coffee or pastry to go.
I ride laps in central park early AM in weekdays, this places opens at 7am on the dot, ready to make delicious coffee. They use Bristot coffee beans. It's super close to the Fredrick Douglas circle near Central Park. All the baristas/staff I've exchanged with are very friendly and very skilled. They have to go and to stay cups as well as delicious fresh made pastries. Cafeine is about 2 blocks away from Double Dutch Cafe, but I honestly like the coffee at Cafeine much better than it's more "elite competition." The vibe here is completely different as well, its open, yet small, they leave the doors open all day to allow air and light in. And they even have outdoor seating. Also have plenty of non-dairy options! I highly recommend.

Hands down the best matcha lattes and pastries in the neighborhood, and some of the best croissants in the city, in my opinion. They make them fresh on-site, and if you are lucky you'll get one warm out of the oven. My husband is the serious coffee drinker in the family and he is also a fan of this spot. Also, the guy who works in the mornings (Carlos?) is so sweet! Friendly to new customers and regulars (he greets them all by name!), he is careful but quick, making everyone's order just right. It's exactly how you want to be treated at a neighborhood spot. This place is a great way to start the morning or treat yourself mid-day.

I come here occasionally because it is very close to home. I tend to find the coffee overpriced compared to similar coffee shops. Also, on my most recent visit yesterday late afternoon, I found the service abominable. The barista barely spoke to me, and either grunted or shook his head in response to my questions. You can't charge 6.50 for a latte and have service that is so terrible. This place needs to tighten up it's game to stay competitive in the neighborhood.
