Beautiful restaurant - amazing staff. And you can never go wrong with the fish.
We had lunch. Love the decor very classy and elegant. The service was attentive and flawless. Both deserve the 5 stars. The food in comparison is little lacking. We were told this is a French with Turkish twist type of cuisine. Waitress recommended hiramasa abricot. It is a little bit too sweet and fish was cut into tiny pieces to almost none existent. The other appetizer we ordered was beef tartare. It tasted wonderful but very chunky. For the main dishes we ordered hanger steak, very dry and tough, not recommend it, and romesco fish, which literally has no taste and the fish is only the size of a woman’s thumb. The two main dishes combined are over $100 and I truly think they all over priced. Maybe the high prices reflect the plating; sure the plating is fancy but not aesthetically pleasing. I am little disappointed. I think if anyone wants to try maybe go for dinner as the dinner menu online looks more interesting and portions are more reasonable. Last we ordered a cake desert, wonderful.
Cafe Boulud is Michelin for good reason.
Came here for my girlfriend’s birthday and we were treated graciously. The service is unbeatable, everything handled with care.
The complimentary amuse-bouche of dry aged ham was a nice touch on top of a delicious meal. Duck, Pork Loin, Lobster Rav, and Scallops w/ caviar were all excellent. A French gem in NYC, would recommend to anyone.
I’ve been here few times even when they were still in Madison Avenue. It’s a great French restaurant with good food and good people. The atmosphere is I think better than they used to be in Madison Ave. Service is 5 star from the host, servers and managers. They always check on their guests and made sure everything is good.
Nicely designed, steal tartare was good one of the better ones I’ve had, nice for a brunch/lunch location.
Even the hottest night of the summer and an unexpected thunder shower couldn’t put a damper on the spectacular dinner I experienced at Café Boulud. Chef Daniel Boulud’s exquisite vision came through in every bite, and the restaurant’s refined yet welcoming atmosphere made for a truly memorable evening.
What truly elevated the night, however, was the exceptional service from my server, Daniel. His knowledge of each dish and thoughtful recommendations made all the difference, he was the perfect guide through a beautifully curated meal.
I began with the Gazpacho de Concombre, a chilled creamy cucumber soup that was a masterclass in balance; refreshing herbs mingled with sweet grapes to create a dish both soothing and surprising, perfect for a sweltering summer night.
Next came the Tarte Carotte-Vadouvan, a curried-inspired celebration of rainbow carrots layered over a crisp pecorino romano sablé (that deliciously echoed the flavor of Gruyère). It was both inventive and deeply comforting.
For the main course, the Canard Aux Montmorency was the star of the evening: roasted duck breast paired with tart cherries, a rich confit leg ravioli, and delicate shavings of cured foie gras. It was a dish that sang in layers; earthy, sweet, savory, and complex in all the right ways.
And finally, dessert: the Gâteau Chocolat Mûre. This decadent devil’s food cake with dark chocolate licorice crème and a vibrant blackberry sorbet was the perfect ending to a rich, elegant finale that left me floating.
The dining room is both glamorous and quaint, offering elegance without pretense. It’s rare to find a space that feels upscale yet family-friendly, but Café Boulud strikes the balance effortlessly.
Chef Daniel Boulud and his team have more than earned their Michelin star. This was not just a meal, it was a perfect escape.
Daniel Boulud has nothing to do with this restaurant and the menu says so by naming the real chef. Suboptimal food at high prices. Don't go!

DB has pulled it off again! I had Saturday brunch which included the pasta with corgettes, which is not to be missed. The room is one of the best in New York…open with great light during the day. Terrific service, although not 100% coordinated among themselves quite yet. This place has the potential to be an East Side “go to” if you don’t want to go all in formal, but something more than some hamburger joint.

We came from Minnesota to eat here on our one night in NY. If you are looking for amazing butter, I’d suggest coming here.
If you are looking for great food, go elsewhere.
We spent around $500 for under cooked risotto, steak that lacked flavor, a potato loaf that had little to no seasoning, soup that was awful, and waiters with attitudes. Very disappointing for my first dinner in New York. Unfortunately, I highly recommend avoiding this place. We were really looking forward to this, and expected much more from this chef.

We had one night in NYC. We chose Chef Boulud for our one dinner. We were disappointed. The risotto was under cooked. The duck skin was soggy. The snapper was beautiful on the plate, but it lacked flavor. The waiter was not very attentive. For the cost, not the night we were hoping.

Good food but even better service. Came early around 5:30PM on a dinner night and the space was quaint and intimate.
Food: recommend the canard miel-safran (duck breast). Personally did not love the bar en paupiette sauce meurette (black sea bass) it felt flavorless without accompanying sauces and essentially mashed potato.
Dessert: highly recommend the Tarte noix de pecan, it comes with an incredible maple whiskey ice cream

You can see the staff’s passion reflected in their outstanding service and the beautifully designed restaurant interior! The food, while being mostly good, was not super memorable and I personally don’t think it was worth the price point this restaurant operated at. The two friends I went with also agreed. Good flavors, beautiful interior, excellent service overall
