Loved the experience. Raymond was so knowledgeable about the menu and lead us to the best dishes! The sauces for the tortellini and branzino were stars. The burger and cake was great too. Absolutely coming back for more.

An Outstanding Dining Experience at Café Commerce, NYC
Thank you!!!
Last Night was probably my third or fourth visit to cafe commerce and what amazed me was the consistency of the food and the service Raymond my favorite point person at the restaurant always acknowledges us, I am not sure what his role is but he is so attentive always warm and welcoming.
Café Commerce delivered a truly exceptional evening that left us already planning our next visit. From the moment we arrived, the service set the tone, our expectations were high and I am shocked to say they were definitely exceeded. Raymond was outstanding. He genuinely embodies the spirit of hospitality a quality that is rare nowadays. He is warm, welcoming, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about both the menu and the wine list. His guidance elevated our dinner and helped turn a great meal into a memorable.experience. I have dined at some of the best restaurants in the world but cafe commerce is probably at par if not better than most of them.
Thanks to his expert recommendations, we enjoyed a beautifully curated array of dishes. The scallops were perfectly seared and tender, the tortellini was delicate and full of flavor, the branzino light and fresh, and the duck au poivre was absolutely stunning with its rich, peppery depth. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and elegantly presented. Unfortunately we did not have room for cake but we saw big and tall delicious looking slices of cake floating around the room.
The space itself is intimate and stylish, buzzing with an energetic vibe. It can get loud, so it may not be the best fit for a quiet or romantic dinner, but if you’re in the mood for lively conversation and a vibrant crowd, it’s perfect. The energy of the room added to the overall charm.
Café Commerce hits that sweet spot with exceptional food, polished yet personal service, and a menu we’re still dreaming about. Whether you’re local or visiting NYC, this place deserves a spot on your must-try list. Expect a mid-to-high price range, but the quality and experience more than justify it.

We waited over an hour for our food, and when it arrived, it was lukewarm. Our burger was overcooked, and the fries were below average. If you’re charging $37 for a burger, it needs to be at least properly cooked. Never again. I’d have asked for it to be refried but since it took so long to get our food in the first place, we didn’t have time. Really disappointing and certainly wouldn’t come again. The music choices were also… bizarre.

Really loved this place. The ambiance was so chic but not too pretentious. I love the painting of the women hunting the man behind the bar, very sexy and original. The food was 10/10, we started with the 20 herb salad, which I found very refreshing and tasty featuring 20 different herbs and the hamachi which melted delicately in your mouth. The rigatoni carbonara it’s really a stand out, I was skeptical at first because the raw egg but it truly adds so much flavor to the dish (the egg is pasteurize). Last, I had the the Chicken schnitzel, so crispy and tender. I also have to give a HUGE thank you to Carlos for thanking care of us, he was so attentive, knowledgeable, and kind, his service was truly a gem. We will definitely come back!

After a friend gifted me a “slice” of the coconut cake from Café Commerce, a slice so big it took me and my wife two nights to finish it, I decided to take a look at the menu. I noticed the address first. I’d been walking by Café Commerce every day on my walks home since it opened in early 2025. Then I read the Resy article by Devra Ferst, the bios for Chef Harold and Charles Pouchot, and with that kind of history and pedigree backing the restaurant, I thought, THIS is the place to take my wife for Valentine’s Day.
It was the absolute best choice. My wife and I are still talking about it.
I was online at 9am two weeks prior and scored a 6pm reservation, which I’m still flexing about. That evening, it was a prix fixe menu at the small, delightful Café Commerce. My wife ordered the beef carpaccio as an appetizer, and she moaned with glee while biting it. I wasn’t so sure. I once tried the beef tartare at La Closerie des Lilas in Paris and decided one attempt at eating raw beef was enough, but my wife asked me to try Café Commerce’s beef carpaccio, so I did. It was so well-prepared, so savory and tangy, that I forgot it involved raw beef haha. It was actually very good! I ordered the black truffle orzoto for an appetizer, and every spoonful was so delicious.
Here's where I must stop to talk about CJ, our server. I know restaurants, having worked in restaurants as a server and bartender years ago. I’ve been a doorman too. Point is, I know hospitality well. For so many reasons (a topic for another day), it’s hard to find people who take pride in their work in hospitality. CJ is one of those rare people who takes his job seriously and works with pride, all the while smiling, and it was evident immediately. I respected him for the way he talked to us, like we had finally arrived to him at Café Commerce, and how knowledgeable he was about the menu. He was excited for me when I asked for a second agave stinger (so damn tasty!) and seemed to genuinely care about us enjoying not just our meal, but our experience while at Café Commerce. I consider him an asset for the restaurant.
When it came to ordering entrees, CJ steered us in the direction of the pan steamed branzino, which my wife ordered, and the Steak Diane, my choice. The fish was soft and flaky and the sauce was lovely. And yet, I preferred my choice yet again—the Steak Diane is a superstar. The gravy. The savory. The delicious filet mignon had me closing my eyes with every chew, no lie. I spotted Chef Harold, who was chatting with Charles at the bar, and, with unintended irony, used my fingertips to signal “chef’s kiss.”
Three quick notes: I didn’t expect to write a review—I stopped writing them months ago—which is why I didn’t think to take photos of our entrees; I thought the bread, which is often cited, could’ve been softer and warmer; still, it was delicious and we enjoyed it; the lighting in the restaurant is an underrated perk of dining at Café Commerce. Incandescent lighting throughout, which provided a warm, cozy, and intimate setting, and not LED lighting, which is harsh on the eyes and brain, too. This place absorbs you.
CJ continued being the most gracious, patient host, and smiled as he brought out the star of our show and the only reason I knew about Café Commerce: the coconut cake, which is big enough to feed a small family. Or two ambitious lovers on Valentine’s Day. That’s right, we finished the entire thing. I even had a latte and my wife an espresso. Then I ordered a cup of drip coffee, just to be sure. Melody’s Piano Bar is a couple of blocks away and I needed to wake up for all that jazz. CJ and Café Commerce had delivered several knockout blows.

Average food and overly expensive, manager is obnoxious. The opposite spirit of a French bistrot.

Food was very good. Scallops, burger and Branzino were highlights. Birthday cake was nostalgically good. Prices were high, especially for alcohol (friend had an $18 mocktail - there's no alcohol!! How are we paying $18 for juice and carbonated water?!? Even the birthday cake, which is just yellow cake with chocolate icing was $24!). If prices were more reasonable I'd say 5 stars, but factoring in value, 4 stars.
