I had not been here since they moved to the old Elaine's spot a few years ago. WOW, had I been missing out! The food, ambience, service was sensational. The restaurant feels upscale but approachable, somewhat French but totally NYC. I started with a super tasty and refreshing gin drink from their specialty cocktail menu. For appetizers we had the salmon tartare, so fresh with a perfectly matched creamy sauce and sprinkling of a smoky spice on top, incredible. We also shared the gnocchi app; preparation was 10/10, so light literally dissapeared on the tongue, the creamy sauce was a perfect compliment. I must also talk about the free bread, crusty but soft, crewy, and airy, I devoured it. For entrees we had the brook trout and the salmon. The trout was absolutely delicious but I couldn't get over the salmon; the leek fonduta was extraordinary, I've never had anything like it and I need to figure out how to make it. Salmon perfectly cooked and spiced...I'm still reminiscing about it! The cream brulee was so light and creamy, not dense and I ate every last bite which I never do with dessert. Chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, so comforting and yummy, that was gone too. I cannot recommend Cafe D'Alsace more!
Our experience was excellent. Staff was friendly and courteous. Service was great. Food was delicious. Felt like we were back in Paris
We had the $58 3 course dinner and everything was exceptional. Clearly someone very talented cooking in the kitchen. Very fresh - even the ice cream on the tart had been made that day. Our waiter Steve was wonderful and the patio was very pleasant. We will definitely return on our next trip to NYC.
Everything was great on both food and service, like always...but why do you allow a dog inside the restaurant ?
The ambiance, service and value are one of the best on the UES. And the food is well prepared and consistent. I enjoy taking guests here for an enjoyable and reasonably priced meal.
Just two feet from the bruising brutality of the heat wave into the chilled , but never chilly, environs of another lovely evening . The bone marrow with the steak frites always seems an unexpected bonus no matter how often enjoyed. And it was good to meet Edgar , the new smile on the server team .
Excellent experience. Wonderful food and attentive service. Quick but not rest. Outstanding selection of all Alsace cuisine.
One of the best French brunches in a long time. Lovely food, wine, and really excellent service. Such fun!
Normally, I really enjoyed this restaurant, but the food was just mediocre. The pasta was completely overdone, and the salad was soggy.
We love this place. I have been here a number of times this year, and the food is consistently excellent, and the atmosphere is perfect for conversation. I was very happy that my friends really enjoyed the meal as I had recommended the restaurant.

Cafe D'Alsace deserves every bit of its popularity, but it does make for a ‘hearty' noise level. That said, the service is terrific; the food tasty & not run-of-the-mill; and the decor is lovely.
The staff at the restaurant was very attentive and went out of their way to take care of us. I highly recommend it. A+
The French toast is delicious and other dish is also OK. I’m really disappointed by the service. The waitress mistook my order for my friend, I ordered crab meat omelet for my friend and an omelet with ham was served. My friend finished the dish because we were all quite hungry and don’t want to wait anymore. When we confronted her about it, she accused and insisted that I ordered it wrong which is ridiculous. I think this kind of situation needs to be addressed because I understand the environment was noisy and one can be busy during brunch time. That’s not the reason to lie and not own up to your mistake.
Even worse, we paid the check and stayed for a little longer(around 10 more mins) she literally came back and tried to get us to leave by saying goodbye again, which made me extremely uncomfortable at the time and quite upset. I won’t be dining at the restaurant again and for sure will not recommend to anybody because of this rude attitude and unpleasant experience. The service is way below the standard. And certainly not matching the food.
