The coffee could have been a day old. It was so burnt and I was most definitely the first person there. Yuck and a loss of five bucks I won’t be returning.

Came here early one morning. Made my iced mocha just how I like it.

Huge fan of Sherwell. He makes the best, classic macchiato! If anyone with the power is listening, please put him back on the morning shift! I miss seeing him! He is so vital for getting us working stiffs amped up, first thing in the morning, to tackle our daily drudgery!
It’s also more than a little ironic that he can be found at a place called café grumpy; he is just the antithesis of grumpy, truly a radiant beam of sunshine!
Hope to see him in the mornings again soon.

Grab a coffee while you grocery shop.
Top notch espresso!
Listen. If you haven’t met Shurwell at Cafe Grumpy inside the Whole Foods, just stop what you’re doing now and go get yourself a coffee, latte, water…whatever gives you the chance to feel his positive energy for 3 minutes of your day. This entire staff at this spot are really fantastic. They all make great drinks and they all give a genuinely lovely experience. But Shurwell…this guy just lights up the whole room. He’s special. This Whole Foods has become my new cafe work spot because of him. Plus, it doesn’t get much better than grabbing your coffee and sitting outside literally ON the Highline while you get a little work done or have some conversation. This is the hidden gem you didn’t realize you were missing. And it’s kind of amazing.

Don’t think this exists
Couldn’t find the place. Inside Whole Foods market nobody knew about the place. Sent me in circles. Ended up at Black Box Coffee.
Many thanks Ricardo for delicious caffe latte and Hot Chocolate. I finished my lunch at Whole Foods Market food hall and wanted to eat NY style cheese cake so I said I must have latte too. I found the Cafe Grumpy corner, Ricardo was so kind and helpful to prepare my drink and gave me complimentary hot chocolate when mentioned that my husband loves it. I will come back again. Highly recommended.
Glad they opened in the area! I’d say is the best coffee around here.

Espresso tasted like dishwasher water.
Great little cafe inside Whole Foods with ample seating. Love that they provide vegan milk at no extra charge.
I stumbled upon Café Grumpy while shopping inside the Whole Foods Market in the new Manhattan West building. Café Grumpy has other locations throughout NYC but this is site is one of their newest. The coffee bar is immaculately clean and offers their house-roasted specialty coffee line. They also sell their coffee beans, various merch (mugs, shirts), cold brew, teas, and other coffee paraphernalia (stainless steel drippers, coffee filters).
There are plenty of seating inside the market and the coffee bar is conveniently located next to the bakery and hot food sections. While there, I grabbed a cup of their cold brew which gave me a nice caffeine boost for the rest of my day. The drink was slightly bitter, full bodied and quite strong, not for the casual coffee drinker. The staff working the counter were great and very efficient. Prices are what you would expect from a Whole Foods vendor.
Honey oat latte is incredibly creamy and delicious! Pour over is wonderful as well!
