We are never disappointed when we go to Lafayette. The food is always good, the service is excellent and the ambiance is lovely.

everything was lovely but our waiter really seemed more interested in a seemingly VIP table than ours

The food is always great but the service is not what it used to be...we had an Italian waiter with a bad attitude, he forgot our drinks twice and kept asking us to order something we didn't want...not sure we'll be back unfortunately...

A brunch scene in SoHo. Noisy and very busy. Good food and service. Nice space. Great people watching.

My favorite spot for brunch. Portions are perfect, and it's not pricey. Our waiter, this time around, was very attentive which I highly appreciate as I have a few food allergies. We sat outside, and it was perfect. Thanks to the hostess as well!

I used to dine here all the time pre-Covid for two reasons: 1. I am a big fan of Andrew Carmellini. 2. Lafayette had one of the best duck dishes in the city. I once took an employee of mine here, a big foodie from Chicago. He's a real homer, you know the type of guy. All, “no New York restaurants ever gonna hold a candle to Chicago, bro.” Well you know what? I made him a believer with the duck. Or, Lafayette did, I guess you could say. And you know what. I am not ashamed to say, I was pretty proud of myself. Pretty-ay...Pretty-ay...Proud. Fast forward to yesterday. I went with a colleague for lunch - hoping for a similar win. Keep in mind it was a Saturday around 12:45 and although I'd never been for lunch before, I figured that since the bakery was excellent, lunch—or brunch—would be at, or around, the same quality. Most New Yorkers know that a restaurant in NYC can be a king for dinner, but a peasant for brunch. That said, I really didn't think that would be the case here. We had something of a tight window: an hour and fifteen minutes before we needed to be back at work. But the restaurant was barely half-filled and we had a reservation. For food we ordered the Shakshuka and the Salmon Eggs Benedict. The food took over an hour to arrive—an hour and ten minutes to be exact. Because it wasn't full and there seemed to be an abundance of servers, this was perplexing. What was even more perplexing however, was the shaksuka. One egg was overdone to the point it could have been hardboiled, while the other was so raw it was essentially white liquid. I asked for an extra egg that was nowhere to be found. Then the sauce. Oh the sauce. The layer of sauce spread across the bottom of this tiny cast iron dish looked like the bottom of the Salton Sea, that is to say a dried out river bed. There were two wisps of micro greens perched gingerly atop, emblematic of the chef's certain surrender.

The service was very inattentive and slow. No one even bothered to ask if we wanted refills or if everything was satisfactory. Food was very good as usual but we were surprised at the lack of attention to service.

Had a great meal! Started at the bar and the bar tenders are so attentive! Make amazing drinks! Started with a half dozen oysters, then had the half chicken for dinner which was incredible! Our server was very knowledgeable about the wine and gave us tastes of a few which was really nice! This is a great restaurant that I will go back to over and over!

Took an out of town guest to dinner in May. The food was okay, nothing spectacular. The moules frites arrived luke warm/cold. Staff not overly attentive as my shell bowl was overflowing and I had to wave them down to get a new bowl. Noise level was high and the staff seemed distracted by a birthday party at the next table, took an eternity to get the check. Probably will not return

Love the food but even though the waitress knew we had a theater curtain to catch, the food came out 10 minutes before we had to leave so it was grab and go. Not ideal and no apologies either.

The overall experience was decent. The service was polite and timely, and the atmosphere was pleasant, though nothing particularly memorable. The food was fine—some dishes were better than others, but nothing really stood out.

Vincent

Disappointed that they did not have enough high chairs on Mother's Day. Sort of ruined the entire brunch experience.

Always worth a trip, noisy without being too much. The walk in and out crosses dining and the take away which is a bit crowded but not an issue. Always a good experience and scary efficient kitchen.

4/5 food was great, desserts didn't match what was on the website nor did the drinks.

Love Lafayette. Always excellent service and the food is outstanding. Love that they change the menu with the seasons!
