Came here around 8pm on a weeknight without a reservation and were able to get seated right away. The vibe of the place was great and the service was prompt, but I am giving this place 4 starts because the food was absolutely mediocre and overpriced for what it was. I got the salmon and it came with white rice and bok choy. There was absolutely no flavor to the white rice, it was just a big serving of white rice. The bok choy was steamed and lightly seasoned and the salmon was good, but nothing special. That dish was priced at $33 and was mainly comprised of white unseasoned rice. Maybe their other dishes are better, but the salmon was not worth that much. Also, this is a Cuban restaurant, but the Cuban sandwich was only available for lunch

I loved everything about my dining experience at Calle Dao. From the moment I walked in, the host was the sweetest in greeting me. I was impressed by the overall ambience and decor of the restaurant. They played some of my favorite songs but it wasn’t too loud, just enough to quietly sing along. My waiter was also very sweet and did a good job in recommending plates. Food was very good! I tried a bit of everything, the Crispy Wings (10/10), Ropa Vieja on Tostones (8/10), Steamed Shrimp Wontons (7/10), Papas Rellenas (7/10) and enjoyed a margarita or two (delish!). Special shoutout to Hector, Emily and Sarah for making this such an enjoyable experience. Will definitely come back!

The restaurant looks nice inside, and the staff is friendly. But that’s where the positives end. The menu does not offer much choice. The Chinese-Cuban fusion is done poorly. Both cuisines have great ingredients, but I feel like here they used all the wrong ones while conceptualizing the dishes. I got a ceviche, yucca fries, picanha, and a salad. The food was not terrible. However, given the high price, I was dissatisfied with the taste, presentation, and ingredients. Sadly, will not visit again. Way too expensive for the disappointingly average dining experience.
This spot will take you straight to the El-bario Chino right here in NYC. Can’t wait to go back for the *bottomless* brunch! Delicious & flavorful! Wanted several things off the menu & our server kept our glasses full.Food:Each dish is infused with Cuban and Chinese flare. Must-order apps: My friend and I ordered the Ma-Po Maduros (omg mouth watering thinking of it. Just get it. That’s it), the Cuban sandwich springs rolls (hands down best app on the menu! Unique & tasty take on the classic Cuban sandwich - Flakey & flavorful w/a zesty sauce), and the Crispy shiitake wontons (these were okay, needed more flavor for the veggie). For entrees we ordered the Cuban eggs Benedict (cooked nicely & tasty) & the steak and eggs (a classic brunch edition but the chimichurri sauce on the steak was amazing!).Drinks:Choose the boozy bottomless brunch. Only $29 with your classics (mojito, mimosa, margarita, sangria etc.. ) & also other drinks with a twist like a twist (guava screwdriver). Never disappoints, constantly refilled (getting your moneys worth for sure).Atmosphere:Adorned with Cuban/Chinese centric decor. BUT Venue is very very small, narrow and was super short staffed BUT our server did his best and was very professional! Only a few tables for large parties. They make do with the space they have.Overall - GO! Can’t speak for lunch or dinner but the brunch has me sold.

Calle Dao is cute. It's a quaint little gem, hidden a little from the bustle of Chelsea, which makes it a nice find.Food is good, albeit different than other restaurants with its unique array of culinary delights. Oysters were delish, which is always a plus for me. It's not a place to go if you're looking for bland or ordinary, which is another part of its allure.Service was great and attentive.Great date night spot for sure.e
