Consistently great food. I have been good here for years. The pernil, rice and beans are always cooked to perfection. Food tastes as if it was made by your grandmother. What else can you ask for?

The cash register lady was kind of a grouch was not very pleasant. I asked for change and told she did not have quarters. When I paid the bill she gave me bills but not the change. I said she did not give the whole change. She said I was wrong I had to put the receipt on the glass so she coul look at it and finally she gave the change. So she had it in the register. She couldn't look at me in the face. All I needed was 2 quarters for the meter so I could sit inside and eat....

This is my absolute go-to spot when I used to live in the Washington Heights for three years. Yes they don't speak a lot of English, but the food is bomb AF and you get so much food for what you pay for. Whenever the owner is there, she does speak English so you'll be fine. Otherwise, just point in the menu and you'll be fine. Don't let that hinder you from having a fantastic home-cooked meal! What I usually get are the stewed oxtail, stewed goat, red snapper...
