Carmen's is a very tiny restaurant that does not have any seating area, so you pretty much have to choice what you want to eat, purchase, and leave. I want to tell you that the food selection is good as well as the taste. The price is definitely competitive as well as the portions . Carmen's is a good to place that provides that difference when you are tired of fast food and want to surprise your taste buds with a delicious change. I've tried the salmon, and the jerk chicken so far. My favorite sides was the broccoli, yellow rice and a sweet potato.

I had read reviews online that said this place was Dominican, so I was super excited given that I am Dominican. And in this part of Manhattan the closest you get to Latin food is Mexican cuisine. So from a proud Dominican customer- this place is absolutely 100% NOT Dominican food. I wouldn’t want non Dominican people to come here and think this is what our food taste like or looks like, I took one look at the potato salad, and if anyone would have shown up with that dish to our family event, my aunts would have had a heart attack- that potato salad is nothing like what Dominicans make, this would be a disgrace. Anyways, on to the review- I had the bbq chicken, Mac and cheese, Moro (rice with red beans), and yuca. The Mac and cheese was not fresh- it tasted like it’s been reheated a few times this week. The Moro was okay but lacked flavor. The bbq chicken was good, and the yuca was good as well. The place is very small, no more than two ppl fit in there at a time, which is fine. The place did not look clean, which was a concern given that this is a food establishment. Nonetheless this is NYC, every restaurant has its mishaps when it comes to sanitation.

Never had a beef stew so tender, better than the way I cook it. 10/10 girls, and the prices are good 😌
It was fine, got the pan seared chicken breast and it’s yellow rice , Mac and cheese and beans

Small spot with big homemade flavor! Everything we tried was delicious and felt freshly made with love. A hidden gem in the middle of Wall Street hustle. Highly recommended!

Unbeatable prices for great food with great portion in this area. Their chicken is so delicious. Unfortunately as of June 2025, it closes way too early now, hours are not clear, went there at 3pm on a weekday and it was already closed. They like to close whenever they want.
What a value. Delicious
Carmen’s Kitchen is hands down one of my favorite lunch spots in the neighborhood! The food is delicious, the place is small yet feels clean, priced fairly, and there’s plenty to choose from. Hidden gems like this are hard to come by these days!!!
Great place. Quick service. There's a reason why there's always a line here.
Don’t know why there’s low ratings for this place. It’s good. Hole in the wall type of place and decent price for the area.
