Burger was cooked to a crisp and dried out. It took a long time to get anyone's attention and then they just said they were sorry about the burger.

My issue was not with the waiter. We arrived on time and there was a fifteen minute wait because they were backed up. That's fine but then they called our name as a party of 2. The OpenTable reservation clearly said 3. Then they told us we could not be seated because our 3rd person was not there (train issues). I said I'm going to order for her so it will not hold them up and we have a show to go to. They said no it was not fair to others. Fairness was not at issue. If I order for the third person the restaurant and others are not harmed. Then later they came back and offered three stools at the bar instead while we waited for our third. That made no sense. We would be tying up 3 stools anyway instead of one booth and I still would have ordered for our third. Then they sat the two of us a few minutes later anyway. At that time I ordered for our third as promised and she arrived 2 mins later.

This was our first visit to the Carnegie diner. We were looking for a traditional New York diner, and this one filled the bill completely. The food was terrific, the service was great and we only waited a few minutes for our reserved table. The only distraction was that it was pretty loud, but we had a booth and all went well. If you're looking for a New York diner this is a good place to go.

Our server was good, repeated our order and responsive with drink refills, and food tasty. Only complaint was about the line at restrooms and lack of responsiveness when I talked to several people about low toilet paper and possibly locked restrooms.

So a bit of a wait because of the tree lighting, super nice Greek gentleman went over the amazing desertes and made me a cappuccino while my wife and I waited t seat. The entry got crazy, Gonzalo came by twice and let us know about seating, was Johny on the spot and helped the team execute at a high level. Ordering was confusing as I asked for pasta with the ribeye and was not understood and then the waitress said I could order it with pasta as an upgrade . The steak was incredible, appetizer of artichoke was slapped together but tasted great . The whole time Gonzalo was running and gunning seating the whole place. Great meal very chaotic and without Gonzalo not sure the result !

The food was fine. However, when they brought my meal out it was on a chipped/damaged plate. The chip was about an inch wide on the edge of the plate. After I pointed it out and requested a new plate, the second time they brought the same breakfast, this time eggs scrambled, but on the same exact plate. When I clarified again that the chipped plate was the issue and now the food was wrong they brought a new breakfast, correctly prepared and on another/new plate that was also chipped - this time only about 1/2-3/4 inch wide. This time we walked to a manager and he came over to see it. The 4th time which was about 20 minutes after the first meal came out, the meal was remade and on a plate that was not chipped. By then our meeting was almost over.

We had a reservation and arrived early. It was a busy Sunday brunch and they very nicely accommodated us. Food was good - pastrami sandwich not a large as depicted on their website but delicious ! Hard to get more water or a waiter for additional items. Breakfast items on other tables were large and looked amazing. Would go back!
