Food quality wasn't great and bad service did not allow them the opportunity to enhance the experience. I had to go to the hostess stand to get mayonnaise after the waiter failed to bring us any and the vegetarian meatballs were not good. Therefore my daughter only ate her salad and some of the bread. The portions were good, the place was clean and they had a great happy hour deal. They may be better at basic diner foods like breakfast and their pastrami/corn beef sandwiches but for what we ordered, I wouldn't recommend.
First time there for a before matinee lunch/brunch. Was easy to get a reservation (highly recommend you make reservations as the walk-in line was long.) Extensive menu of brunch items plus sandwiches, salads, burgers - even a picky eater should be able to find something. Servings were a good size, and most everything came with a side of greens. The noise level was up there, but we were fortunate to be seated away from the central hub. Our server was good in the beginning, but then seemed to disappear. We had plenty of time so it wasn't a problem but if you're tight on time you may want to ask for your check early.
Service was delightful, food came out fast and was just perfect! Great post show or anytime!
The food was great! The parm and truffle fries were delicious and the pastrami ruben was as well. My wife had eggs benni for the first time and was highly impressed by theirs. For times square the prices were reasonable too. We will definitely return.
Food was good, place was very busy. Very convenient being across the street from the Gerswhin, good choice for a nice meal before our show.
The food was cold and the dishes weren't clean. I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here again.
Very friendly staff. Excellent food. Great location. Large restaurant which you don't see in Manhattan too much. Generously size portions.
A unique diner experience. The food was delicious. Everything we ordered was delectable. Who can beat their waffle and brownie milkshakes? Great food. Great service. Homey ambience.
Great brunch spot. Enjoyed the tuna. My husband thought the pastrami was a miss he's had better.
Great place, my second visit in a week! Steak and egg breakfast - steak was even dry aged, very impressive

This was my first time and it will not be my last eating at Carnegie diner and Café. It was a wonderful experience. The staff was very friendly and the food was well cooked and very tasty just as ordered. I can't wait to go back.
Had a 12:15 reservation but had to wait about 20 minutes for a table which was not ideal because we had theater tickets. My food was very good but my wife's eggs were under cooked. My son had the exact meal as my wife's and it was fine. Place was crazy busy and noisy inside. Luckily we sat outside. Won't recommend this place
Dined here for breakfast and it was so good we returned the next day as well. Country omelette was delicious. Food is plentiful . Host is very welcoming and waitstaff exude positivity. Will return and tell our friends and family!
Best diner in NYC! I felt I had the best value, compared to any other restaurant I’ve eaten at in NY! The food was fantastic! Portions are generous to say the least… don’t be afraid to take some home. The wait staff were all great, and as a bonus, the bartender put on a juggling act!
Delicious food! Great service. We were here for 4 days and ate here 4 times. We just had to keep coming back for the good food!!
