My best friend and I have been eyeing this place for a minute. We appreciate it when nothing goes to waste. This restaurant does not disappoint. Fresh slow roasted meat with simple decor like you are in Mexico enjoying an ice cold beer on a scolding hot day. Seating is minimal and gets crowded fast. The spicy is really spicy. Carnitas good, salsas good, service good, ambiance like in a theater set of Mexico. Yet somehow, like all Mexican food in NYC, it disappoints. I can't quite figure out why. Maybe they try too hard or it's the gentrifying prices... To clean perhaps? A mystery.
My friend has lived in the city for a long time and said these are the best tacos he's ever had. We ate there on Friday night and it really was a memorable meal. Other than many different cuts of pork tacos, they only have a few different items on the menu and pork is the only meat they serve, but they do it very well. There's a large image of a pig on the wall that shows where the cut of pork comes from and the name for it. I had four tacos and chose a variety of pork...
