Always a good experience from a cuisine standpoint ... I just need to pay more attention when I ask for water ~ between ”still” vs “tap” water. My bad when I thought they meant the same thing...until I realized I saw the itemized bill for mineral water ! No big deal - lesson learned...
Been here 3-4 times and my overall impression keeps getting worse. The overall food quality is good. But the service can be iffy and the food portions seem much smaller. I always get the chicken con mole and it's was 1/2 the portion of what I had the last time. Even the chips last night were overly greasy. There are so many Mexican options. At this price point they need to step up their game.
Superb margaritas (bonus points for midday happy hour), excellent trio of quesadillas and outstanding chiles rellenos. Salsa morita was the perfect accompaniment. Service was outstanding as well. (We didn't have appetite for Restaurant Week menu, but it looked like a huge deal.)
Absolutely LOVE this place! It checks all the boxes -- beautiful setting, fabulous food, incredibly good service! I've been there for lunch and dinner and it's been wonderful every time. Definitely going back!
Great experience with this Flatiron area Mexican restaurant. Beautiful space, creative menu, and thoughtful service throughout. The menu draws on sophisticated Oaxacan flavors and much more than a taco/burrito joint. Enjoyed the unique cocktails as well.

Beware! Tip is already included! Because of that, we double tipped!
Two stars less for doing that and not proactively informing your customers. NYC is not Miami. Pay your workers and stop doing that!
An excellent Mexican brunch spot! I loved their take on eggs Benedict, and their service was fantastic – fast and friendly. Highly recommend!

Beautiful restaurant and amazing food. Service was excellent and friendly. We'll come back again.
My friends and I got dinner at Casa Carmen in Flatiron and it was absolutely delicious! Everything that we tried was so fresh and made with high quality ingredients. You can tell this restaurant puts a lot of love into their cooking. I arrived early for my reservation and sat at the bar for a drink. The bartender was so incredibly kind and friendly, and gave excellent recommendations, including the pollo con mole (which I had as my main), and the ceviche which we had along with the guacamole as an appetizer. Their drinks are also very good, and while on the pricer side, well worth it in my opinion. Our server was very attentive, and very sweetly brought us over more tortilla chips without us even asking. This restaurant is a 10/10 and I look forward to coming back!
Great upscale atmosphere and service but the food is not memorable at all and it’s expensive

Casa Carmen is an amazing Mexican restaurant.
We started with guac and chips and they were so good. My only small criticism is that the portion could be bigger because we had to order another one. That’s how good it was.
I had the rib taco and my friends absolutely loved their food too. Everyone ordered something different and everything was great. For drinks, of course I had a Mezcalita Rocks margarita and I highly recommend it.
We also had churros for dessert and they were delicious.I will definitely be coming back again very soon.

This was our second time at Casa Carmen. Both times the food was excellent. There are many classic dishes, but also some more interesting and unusual choices, like the octopus and the elite cake. On a cold Tuesday night it was quiet and the service was unhurried and helpful. We will definitely be back!
8 of us met up for dinner in the height of a heavy snowfall on December 26th, 2025. We were able to find parking right on the street where this restaurant is located. We shared a few apps like the Garnachas Orizabenas, and a few other tacos, Ceviche and the corn which was really good. Service was good, quick and everything tasted well.

The Mole is the star of the show. Churros Spanish style with chocolate sauce is amazing. Also The banana old fashioned is a nice twist with mezcal.
This was our first visit to the Flatiron location ( we have dined in Tribeca before) and it was great! The space is similar in style and very pretty. The drinks were amazing, the guacamole was more than amazing! 3 people shared all the tacos and they said each one was better than the next - especially the prime rib tacos. I had the enchiladas and they were excellent. Casa Carmen has the right balance of upscale Mexican food, fun vibe without being a scene or too loud to hear each other and a cool excellence. I would highly recommend Casa Carmen and plan on returning again and again.
