I never leave reviews, but when an employee screams at you loud enough to make you fear for your safety as you walk on the sidewalk OUTSIDE a restaurant, you're left with no choice. I have always loved CAVA, but now I feel genuinely unsafe at the Union Square location.
The full story is that it had to have been around 11pm, one of the employees was chucking the trash to the curb, and as I walked by (using the sidewalk, as one does in New York City), he began screaming loud enough to turn heads from across the street.
I have worked retail and had the occasional slip-up and gotten snippy with customers before, but the idea of yelling at somebody for using the sidewalk is just beyond reprieve.
I have heard similar stories from other people in regard to this location. It's always something. It seems like it's a gamble depending on who's working that day. I wouldn't be surprised if an incident turns violent at some point.

I love Cava but for the 2nd time in 3 orders, lentils and rice are so dry, and too hard to eat. It actually hurts my teeth! Either it’s not cooked enough, or it was cooked hours ago and it got so dry.

After a long, exhausting day at work, my best friend surprised me with dinner and took me to Cava….. honestly it was exactly what I needed. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of great energy. Miguel O., who was working behind the counter, absolutely made the experience unforgettable. He was beyond kind, patient, and genuinely enthusiastic, taking the time to walk us through all the options and making sure we felt confident and excited about our choices. His positive attitude and outstanding customer service truly stood out and turned a simple dinner stop into a highlight of my day. Because of Miguel and the overall incredible experience, I will definitely be coming back again and again !
