Friendly, humorous owner, still greet and chat with most customers. Told the college kids to work hard so they don't have to spend long hours in the kitchen like himself. The kids invite him to jub hunt together. Genuine guy

As a Cantonese, this is Home!
Rice noodles, turnip and tripes and fish balls!
The owner let me sit by the table next to the cashier and we chatted up a storm !

This is an absolute local experience. It has 3 bar seats and a loud friendly funny guy taking orders. I came here for the congee which was basic but so flavorful and homey. I got the noodles which they are known for and they were outstanding! Chewy, umami and not the prettiest dish. I’ll sacrifice looks for flavor any day! I works say you must be a Sami brave eager to try it but it’s a place I’ll definitely crave in the future!

Just a student stopping by on his travel to college. Really cute small spot, went for the high rating. Food came out right away and the curry fish ball noodles were amazing. The owners treated everyone like friends. Would definitely go back!

It's just OK. The rice paste is not silken enough and kind of loosely rolled. The mixed source does not taste authentic HK style. The fishballs are frizen and packaged from a distributor.

I get my rice noodles 🍜 fix every time I come back to NYC. No longer have to wonder if the cart is going to be open bc they now have a store front! Food is fast, it feels like home and I ordered an extra order to be eaten in the morning! The boss is also soooo nice! They speak English too so no worries if you don't speak Chinese!

Chang Lai is such a hidden gem! The food is fresh, flavorful, and packed with that true Hong Kong street food taste. The curry fishball rice noodles are a must-try — perfectly chewy fishballs in a light, aromatic curry broth that hits all the right notes. The rice rolls are silky and soak up the sauces beautifully, and you can mix your own sauces for extra flavor. The tripe and rice rolls combo was another standout — tender and super tasty.
