I did know the main floor for the restaurant was cloced, me and the wife were looking forward to a nice steak and lobster dinner in New York, like we always eat at Charlie Palmers in GSR in Reno Nevada , and to my surprise the restaurant was cloced, so it ruin my birthday celebration in New York !!!
The food was ok but for a venue in Times Square, requiring a credit card for reservations, I expected much more. The menu is a bare bones steak offering with nothing fancy.
Beware - the restaurant is closed on Sundays (but still accepts reservations on Open Table)!
Everything was superb. lol I called back for my macaroni and cheese.
Beautiful place, delicious food and a great atmosphere. Serafin provides an amazing service❤️🔥
Beautiful and elegant. We were there for pre-theatre dinner and it was absolutely perfect. Service by Mohamed was exceptional! Great service is subtle balance of warmth, hospitality, and refinement; he was the exact balance of these qualities. The kitchen was equally impressive with its' stellar execution of technique, nuanced layering of flavors, and presentation. Honorable mention to the bartender for that gorgeous Negroni to kick things off , and a nod to the lovely Chablis that accompanied dinner. Thank you for a very special and memorable evening!
This location needs attention to ambience. It is like a conference room. The music was techno - not the vibe you want for a steakhouse. We were in NYC for 2 nights and I feel like one night - and a very pretty dress - were wasted on this restaurant. Food was very good. However, we ordered baked clams and they were just thrown on a bread plate - no thought to presentation. There was only one waiter who really knew his profession and the menu. DC location is awesome. This NYC location is not at all special.
Our waitress Haley was wonderful . We loved her. Our food was great and best espresso martini. Steak was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend.
We are staying at the knickerbocker, for convenience we decided to eat at the steakhouse after a long day of traveling.
Everyone's food was just ok.....underwhelming. My two teens felt that the salmon dish and clam bucatini, respectively, was just average. I might have considered that simply teenage taste buds, although my daughter has been with me to many fine-dining restaurants in her past.
My ribeye was tender but honestly kind of blah as well flavor-wise. So was the asparagus I ordered. Although crisp, it had no flavor popping at all. It was advertised to be served with a lemon sauce, it seemed mostly butter with very little lemon.
Honestly surprised going back and reading all these highly rated reviews!! Like I said, nothing terrible but certainly nothing to write home about, especially at this price point, and given another stay at the knickerbocker, I will choose somewhere else to eat. My server was very nice though
DON'T BOTHER. We had the prefix theater dinner. The steak was over cooked; the salmon was under cooked. The starter which was shrimp was drenched in olive oil. I mean swimming in it! The cookies that were dessert were probably a day old or more. Tasted like sand. The sorbet was all sugar. On top of the horrible food, we were rushed in and out in an hour. It SUCKED. I was shocked and disappointed at how bad the food was. Our server was nice but not nice enough to make up for the bad food.
Restaurantji Recommends
My wife and I spent $322 Australian Dollars and received one of the worst steaks we’ve ever had, asked for medium rare, received rare (not that big of a deal I often have rare), steak was of a horrendous quality, can tell that the service staff are required to push the ‘3 part’ menu on customers, in saying that service was 10/10 from the staff, just dreadful food for such a big cost, would not recommended to anyone.
The service was wonderful, however, I had the worst steak I’ve ever had. The quality was terrible. It was an extreme shame. I would not recommend the theatre deal as it I was proposed to ensure timely departure yet had terrible quality.
Beautiful restaurant...elegant and very quiet...you can actually hear the conversation and not having to scream it out.
Food is good but service was awful. Place was half empty on a Wednesday night reception took 10 minutes to sit us, server took 20 minutes to come by, food took an hour. Forgot our drink and didn’t bring a dinner plate. Weirdly bad.
Ordered items never showed, salmon terribly overcooked, service was slow and confused. Would never go back.
Also, one steak dish on the menu....at a steak restaurant.
