Such a wonderful night! Chateau Royale is a true treasure. The food was exceptional with the oysters, scallops, filet, and frittes as well and the chocolate molten cake and ice cream for dessert. Absolutely delicious! Andrew guided us through the wine pairings and is heads and shoulders above any sommelier we’ve encountered in the city. We look forward to our next dining experience here!!

Went from brunch with a big group
It was the biggest disappointment
Drinks for brunch were very little at a high price
Food was ok, some stuff were good but other like pancakes were very small at a high price
I ordered fries w my expensive food and never came
There’s literally nothing to share for big groups, not even a bread basket
Is super expensive, small portions, mediocre food that after paying all that u leave w no memories of a good French restaurant

Had a quick, early dinner here and loved the foie gras torchon. I ordered the baquette with it and paired with a glass of wine and a delicious creme brulee, it totally hit the spot. By the time I left, the bar area was very lively. Staff was friendly but I found the ambiance a little sterile. I had hoped the bar would also serve the filet au poivre which I had read about and looked delicious on the pics I had seen but that is only available upstairs in the more formal dining room.

Very nice new find. We did the Bar Room which was a great experience. Cocktails were appropriately strong, and the burger was excellent.

The desserts were the highlight and I am glad we got one of each. Overall definitely a must try in the neighborhood.

The Bar Room at Château Royale is an absolute vibe. It’s lively, warm, and has a more approachable menu compared to the elevated fine-dining room upstairs (which is also fantastic for the right occasion). My friend and I grabbed two seats at the bar on the earlier side of a Saturday night, and by midway through the meal the whole room was buzzing.

We ordered the sizzling Escargots Bourguignon, the in-house Wagyu Chien Chaud, the Le Burger with Gruyère (though it’s formally paired with blue cheese), and a side of Pommes Frites. Everything was perfectly shareable, well-executed, and flavorful without feeling too heavy before our night out.

For drinks we went with a bottle of mineral water, a crisp glass of Christophe et Fils Chablis Vieilles Vignes 2023, their special ice-cold martini with a twist, and a glass of the Arnauld Baillot Montagne 2023. After dinner, two properly pulled espresso shots and an Adrien Camut 6-year Calvados Pays d’Auge served in a clean sipping snifter were the ideal finish.

One detail we really appreciated: the bar setup is double-wide, so staff can work two-deep without disrupting the dining experience. It keeps the energy up but the flow smooth.

The wine selection overall is excellent. On a previous visit, my friend and I split a bottle of the Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Rouge 2023, recommended by the informed sommelier and beautifully decanted at the proper temperature by our server, Amanda. Shoutout to her for being incredibly knowledgeable and attentive during both visits.

Only suggestion: when ordering escargot, it would be great if each guest received their own house-baked bun rather than one to split, they’re very good.

A fantastic experience across the board. Compliments to the chef, Cody, and the entire team. Looking forward to returning soon!

Escargots are, without question, incredibly good. But the Dover sole feels weaker compared to what I have had elsewhere, with the saltiness coming on too strong. The Beggar’s Purse is shockingly small, and it is hard to believe it costs thirty nine dollars. I went back because the brunch menu looked great, but the fish-fillet sandwich feels like beautifully fried Dover sole ruined by the caviar, bun, and sauce. Le Burger leaves a lingering saltiness in your mouth. Overall, the food is on the salty side.

Bland shrimp ($30 for three pieces), over-salted fries, questionable tuna, and a $9 bread basket that was mediocre at best. High prices need to match quality.

Chateau Royale acts prestigious without delivering. The gap between their self-image and reality is massive.

Suspicious identical five-star reviews are popping up on Google instead of addressing real concerns—tells you everything about management.

What a unique place! When you come inside, you really feel like you've entered a little world...The rolling martini cart on the second floor is so old New York. The escargots, bubbling hot....melt-in-your-mouth steak....sable fish was so yummy....service, no complaints. I'll be back!

I get nervous about French food outside of France—but we loved Chateau Royale. Vesper martini was perfect, and my friend felt the same about her Boulevardier. Oysters, filet, and duck a l’orange—all just right. And our server, Nathalie, was lovely!

What a wonderful evening at Chateau Royale! Upon arrival, we were greeted by warm, professional staff, and the ensuing moments lived up to the promise of that lovely beginning.
The decor, both downstairs, in the gorgeously intimate bar with its glossy wood, historic tiles, amazing line-up of bottles, and upstairs, with the plush, comfortable booths in deep red leather and velvet, the crisply ironed white tablecloths on all the tables, and the perfectly calibrated lighting, was elegant and inviting.
But to get to the food and drink...! The sable in buerre blanc sauce was the best fish I have ever tasted, the frites were the Platonic ideal of French fries, the 'Beggar's Purse' was a mouthful to remember, the lamb melted in the mouth, and the desserts (we ordered two, crème brûlée and tarte au citron) were silky dreams, truly delicious!!
We sampled a delightful yeasty champagne and a superb Chablis, taking the excellent advice of the sommelier.
The service at Chateau Royale is amazing, with just the right mix of genuine friendliness and absolutely impeccable expertise. We adored our little chats with the waiter and sommelier. Nothing was neglected, and every member of staff who chanced to walk by had their eye on our table to make sure we had what we needed.
This was an evening that evoked all that is best in New York City and French cuisine. I give my highest accolades to this wonderful restaurant, and hope you dine at Chateau Royale soon!

Absolutely LOVE this new addition to the neighborhood! I've had dinner downstairs twice and upstairs once, and brunch upstairs this past weekend, and everything, from food, to the freezing cold martinis (with the martini cart, natch), to the big burgundy-heavy wine list makes this spot my new favorite. get the prawns with spicy aioli, the hot dog (if you're downstairs), and the black cod if you're upstairs.
